The journey through life can bring pain however, living a life with Christ can bring eternal gain and lead you to a life of purpose. Focusing on the eternal can help you find purpose in the pain.

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭

“‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭4‬ ‭

Everyone is running a race but which race? There's a race for life in this world and race for an eternal life.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT
[24] Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! [25] All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. [26] So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. [27] I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Philippians 3:12-14 NLT
[12] I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. [13] No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, [14] I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

VICTORY

08/16/2024

God forgives you for everything you've done. When we're living a life of insanity, God still forgives us over and over. Grace upon grace even when we don't deserve it. We need to surrender and submit daily.

“But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.””
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬

Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up.
James 4:10

Starting Recovery might be a new experience. I know it was for me. Then understooding who God is, along with what Jesus did for us on the Cross, Will be a game changer in our Recovery story. The reality is HE Left the 99 to find the one and that's where many of our Recovery Journeys began.

Luke 15
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

On the good days, we praise HIM.
On the tougher days, we praise HIM.

Isaiah 41:10
fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

What Is Denial?

Denial has been defined as “a false system of beliefs that are not based on reality” and “a self-protecting behavior that keeps us from honestly facing the truth.”

As kids, we all learned various coping skills. They came in handy when we didn’t get the attention we wanted from our parents and others or to block our pain and our fears.

For a time, these coping systems worked. But as the years progressed, they confused and clouded our view of the truth about our lives. As we grew, our perception of ourselves and our expectations of all those around us also grew. But because we retained our childish methods of coping,
our perceptions of reality became increasingly more unrealistic and distorted.

Our coping skills grew into denial, and most of our relationships ended up broken or less fulfilling than they could have been.
Did you ever deny that your parents had problems? Did you ever deny that
you had problems? The truth is, we can all answer yes to these questions to
some extent. But, for some of us, that denial turned to shame and guilt.

The good news is there is Hope and his name is Jesus Christ! Find a Local Celebrate Recovery group by visiting CelebrateRecovery.com. You don't need to face your Hurts, Hang-ups, and Habits alone!

Trust, seek and be confidently obedient to what God wants to do in your life. His plans and His ways are much better than ours.

Principle 5 says, “I voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.”

Unhealthy thought patterns can affect mood, behavior, and mental clarity.

Negative thoughts tend to lean toward negativity rather than lean toward the good things in our lives.

Negative thoughts can drag us into this wallowing pit of anguish and worthlessness and sink the whole ship. Only Christ can bring us back to the top of a joyful mountain.

“Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭
