Digital Days at Dewar Elementary School! Check this one out! Ms. Tuck's class used Canva to create their own addition word problems to present to the class! Students decided what their word problem would be about and chose images to give a visual. Students then recorded a video together to talk about their word problem! Here is a link to their presentation!

Check out Digital Days at Dewar Elementary School -- Mrs. Menard's Kindergarten students studied life cycle stages. Following the story of the week, The Very Impatient Caterpillar, the students researched various different styles of the story and a non fiction text that explained the stages of a caterpillar to butterfly. The students collaborated and shared ideas to ensure they had the proper understanding of what the life cycle of a butterfly was. Then the students were challenged to type several facts and use illustrations in a Canva slide to explain the life cycle of a butterfly. The students presented their creation to their classmates.
Big things going on at Dewar's Digital Days!

While we love Google and all things technology, media specialists make things happen in their schools. They know and love the patrons they serve - students, teachers, and parents, and always show up with just the right book, resource, video, website, or sometimes just a listening ear. I'm so thankful to work for a district that values and supports school library media specialists. Happy National Librarian Day to our Lowndes County Schools media specialists. Each of you is a treasure and worthy of celebration every day! Thank you Paige Berry (CES), Tami Williams (DES), Bonnie Johnson (HES), Jennifer Sherouse (LPE), Alisande Mayer (MBE), Cindy Taylor (PGE), Shayla Strickland (WES), Brandi Stalvey (HMS), Rachel Kight (LMS), Alison Hamel (PGM), Monica Dyess (LHS), and Kristal Dawson (LHS)! The things you do each day are very much appreciated! (And also thank you to Molly Carter and our HR Department for honoring these ladies today!) -- Heather Morin โค๏ธ๐

๐ฟ Check out these Three Cs Champions from Dewar Elementary School -- Mrs. Singletary and Ms. Holmes! Their Kindergarten class at DES researched ducks and rabbits using their Google Classroom resources. Then with a partner, the students had to decide which animal they thought the book was talking about after reading it and using the facts they learned. Then they created a Canva with their partner. They searched the elements, and typed their information. Then we shared with our classmates. Afterwards, students had to write an opinion essay about whether the animal was a duck or a rabbit. Together, they are taking learning to the next level by diving into the fascinating world of ecosystems. The students are actively engaged in designing a food web using Google Slides, a creative and interactive way to understand the intricate connections within an ecosystem.
This exciting project aligns with the educational standard S4L1, which focuses on the interactions of living organisms within an ecosystem and the flow of energy within it.

๐ฟ Check out this Three Cs Champion from Dewar Elementary School: Mrs. Jonessa Williams! Mrs. Williams' Kindergarten class dived into a deeper lesson on one of their chosen black history figures, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams by participating in a 3Cs challenge. Students used the jigsaw strategy to research and become experts on Dr. Williams by searching websites, interviewing and diving into nonfiction text to find 3 points to share with their research groups. They then returned to their groups to share the information they found with each member of their group to create a completed jigsaw. From there, the students compiled their information together into a collaborative Canva slideshow and presented their show to their classmates to be used as an opening lesson to completing their informational writing piece.
