Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Valdosta State University will remain closed Tuesday, September 5, and will reopen for classes and business at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September, 6.
This will allow additional time to restore power, assess campus buildings and technical services, and provide extra time for employees and students to safely return to campus.
Faculty, please be on the lookout for a separate email from the Provostโs Office.
For students living on campus, Palms Dining will continue with the same hours Tuesday as over the holiday weekend: 8 a.m - 10 a.m for breakfast, noon - 2 p.m. for lunch, and 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. for dinner.
I know we all are ready to get back to our daily routines. I wish you a safe and restful remainder of the holiday weekend.
We have continued to closely track the path of Hurricane Idalia. The latest update from VSUโs Department of Public Safety shows the storm is strengthening as it moves closer to land with greatest impact of strong winds and heavy rain in Lowndes County tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. As a result, VSU will be closed starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30 and will remain closed until midnight. During the closure, only essential personnel and residents of campus housing are allowed on campus.
We will continue to monitor the impact of Idalia, but as of right now, we anticipate VSU reopening at 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 31.
