There is a fun thing we are doing at Affton and Valley Park whiskey bars starting next week, July 28. We have picked 16 whiskeys from 8 different categories to go toe to toe in a blind battle.

Every week for 8 weeks, we will offer two blind whiskey battles (2 whiskeys per battle) and ask you to vote for your favorite. Each blind whiskey bracket will be available for $12 for the whole week (includes 2 whiskey pours of 1 oz each). There will be two battles every week, available for you to try all week. Try it once or as many times you like. Starts the week of July 28!

The one with most votes will go to the next round and we will continue until we have a winner.

After sampling about 6 different barrels and some arguments, we bring to you the first and the only single barrel select in St. Louis area from the Augusta Distillery. The palate reminds us of dark chocolates, has a very long finish and drinks way below the proof.

We welcome Matt Groves Sales Director and Tanna Massar National Sales Manager of the Augusta Distillery to lead the class. Attendees will get three one ounce pours of three different expressions of whiskeys from Augusta distillery, including Old Route 8 Year, Buckners 10 Year and Barrel Blends X SLBS 8 Year single barrel.

-Attendees will be able to purchase this single barrel at the event with a special discount, before we release to other club members.

About the Augusta Distillery:
Before distilleries began springing up in central Kentucky, bourbon whisky flowed in this original Bourbon County, Augsuta, KY. Corn-based distillations from hilltop stills found their way down to the banks of Augusta in old oaken barrels, where they were loaded on flat bottom boats and distributed downstream to the west and south. Augusta Distillery was created to extend this elevated existence to all who are willing to downshift, kickback and linger a little longer.

Join us for our very first Blind Wine Class with our wine specialist Matt at Barrel Blends Valley Park on July 20, Thursday at 6 PM. We only have 10 tickets.

This Blind Wine tasting will focus on learning how to articulate what you are smelling and tasting in wine. The wine world can be vast and intimidating and we’re here to demystify all the wild tasting notes you may have heard in movies or pop culture. You might end up surprised at what you end up liking or disliking at the end of this tasting!

The class will be led by our very own wine specialist Matt Hickerson. You will get 5 wine samples (2 oz each) but will not know the varietal, region or any other details about the wine. Matt will walk you through the wines and will reveal them at the end. We will have fun identifying the notes you get and finding new favorites.

Tickets are $20 per person. $10 may be applied towards your purchase of any of wines presented at the event. There are only 10 tickets available!
