MACK SHACK

To those wondering, what happened to mack shack? I realized I left Facebook a loose end. Mack Shack Breakfast Burritos officially closed in 2020. We were able to rebuild the cart, but decided it was best for my family if I closed the cart permanently and tried to sell it as a business. Given the unsteady times we were all in (you know) people were also not in a place to be starting a new business venture like this. At the point the business is 100% non-existent anymore, and the cart has been sold to someone opening their own food venture next summer (more info later on that).

Don’t be sad, think on the good times we had and the inner belly hug of your favorite burrito. I was very grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and build connections, to learn how to run a scratch food cart from scratch, and just how amazing people CAN be!

My family is happy and well, I have no regrets about the Mack Shack and if I ever open another food business down the road I’ll let you all know!

Let the rebuild begin! We finally have the materials we need to start her revival. cart hospital

We’ve been getting lots of calls today so I just want to reach out and give an update. We have most of the new pieces together but we’re still waiting on a piece. Hopefully this week we will get all the materials in one place and then start rebuilding. My latest reopening self-set deadline is the last weekend of September. Please hold out hope for us, we will be back soon!

We all have our little blemishes, right? Food Cart progress status update: currently getting quotes from Sheet Metal Suppliers, working into making a 3D image of what we need cut, deconstructing the damaged parts, and straightening out salvageable parts.

Anniversary celebration canceled tomorrow and Mack Shack closed until we can get this guy fixed or buy a new trailer! Accidents happen and such is our luck today. The trailer popped off tow hitch, skid across the highway and flipped over in the ditch. In better luck, no one was hurt, no vehicles involved, and good citizens stopped to help flip it back over and hitch it back to the truck. We will try to reopen as soon as possible, stay tuned!

I’m sorry we have been MIA during quarantine. Mack Shack will re-open as soon as the stay home act is lifted but I wanted to jump on here and give a quick word to our customers and community. It’s really easy to focus on the fear and uncertainty that has come in and disrupted our world. The reality of these hard times is that they are hard! We cannot brush that off. They are hard in different ways for different people, but seeing the good is so important! Being able to slow down, and soak up these beautiful days with my family is an unexpected gift in a world of busy. I have been humbled and convicted about living too fast. Hurry is the champion of selfishness and competitor or peace. Perhaps you’re not finding peace at this time, and that’s okay too- the one thing I hope we can all see is how to look past ourselves with compassion for others, and strive to win over selfishness. Buy something local, meet your neighbors, go for a walk, or take a nap. The world will keep on spinning. My heart goes out to those hurting most from this, those going broke, those loosing loved ones, those fighting depression and fear. However you can help someone, do that! We might just be able to slow down enough to defeat selfishness and conquer fear. Hang in there! I am excited to reunite with out community in Vancouver, WA, and rejoice that we can once again sit in a coffee shop, sip wine on the waterfront, and mingle through community events like markets or First Friday walks.

Mack Shack is closed for this week. It was not an easy choice to make, but it seemed like the right thing to do to keep my employees, family and customers safe and join our Community in slowing the spread. Check back next week. Stay well everyone!
