After we finished laughing at how incredible this reel is (thanks for the serious chuckle @prairie.thistle!), it made us curious about thread organization in YOUR sewing room! It's a big topic and with so many different styles and sizes of thread out there, how do you organize it all? If you're not sure where to start, take a look @prairie.thistle 's caption below 👇 She came up with a ingenious solution involving some 1/4" dowels and a pegboard, an incredibly simple but highly effective way to store her loose spools! --- Let’s talk organization! 🫶🏽 Most days I find that if my sewing room is messy, I just can’t focus on what I want to be working on. For example, my threads, they have been bothering me in the containers and drawer, I felt that I always searching though, never finding what I’m looking for, or in a jumbled mess! After I organized my fabrics, I set to find something for my thread spools. 🧵 Once I decided what I wanted to do, I angled my shelf forward, I ran to Home Depot; bought some 1/4” dowel and pegboard. Once at home, I configured my dowels and got to work with some wood glue. I am completely in love with my shelf that lets me store all my threads conveniently & out of the way. One thing I did not account for was how heavy the shelf would be. I had one small mishap, easily fixed with some stoppers and a Brad nailer. Have you ever tried collage quilting? @myquiltdiet shared this great process video and some helpful tips! Repost by: @myquiltdiet Quilting collage quilts can be a little bit tricky. First, you MUST use quality thread. I always use @superiorthreads. They are my absolute favorite. Second, be sure to increase your needle size. I use a “21”. If you don’t, you will get skipped stitches on the layered appliqué. You still might get a few, but you will get far less with a larger needle. Third, you’ve got to get all of the little pieces of fabric quilted down. Take you time. Yes, this looks like I’m going REALLY fast, but it’s sped up significantly. Now, going too slow isn’t good either. I’ll post a clip of real time later this week 💗💗. FOURTH- Quilt with the design, with the flow of the feathers of petals or whatever. You want your quilting to go with the design. Happy quilting 💗💗 Pattern by @collage.quilter.
