New Horizons Dental is very excited to introduce the newest member of our family...Dr. Lara Kacherian!
Dr. Lara Kacherian was raised near New York City and she moved to the west coast seven years ago. She loves exploring the beautiful outdoors and all of the incredible food that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. She and her family recently relocated to Vancouver from across the river in Portland. As a fourth-generation dentist she is passionate about the evolving field of dentistry and the technological advancements that provide great care for her patients.
Dr. Lara received her bachelorโs degree in Biological Anthropology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She later attended Columbia University in New York, NY where she received her DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). She met her husband, Jonathan, (who is an oral surgeon in the area) in dental school and they moved across the country together. She completed a general practice residency program at the Portland V.A. Hospital and provided complex dental care for the Veteran population.
In her spare time, she enjoys trying new restaurants and spending time with her young family. Dr. Lara and her husband keep busy with their son, Ethan, and daughter Nora. They also have a dog named Finn (he is a Vizsla).
Dr. Lara is highly committed to providing patients with a positive oral healthcare experience. She strives to deliver gentle and high- quality care with attention to the little details. She looks forward to forming relationships with her patients, and being an important part of their overall health & wellness.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Lara, just call or text our scheduling team at 360-694-7070.

Did you know that cheese is good for your teeth?๐ง A new study has found that eating cheese can actually help clean your teeth and strengthen its enamel.
However, before you rejoice too much, you should know that the study also found that too much calcium could lead to tooth decay. As always, moderation is key! ๐
Today is ! ๐ฟ ๐ But what happens when a kernel gets stuck in your teeth?
1. Use dental floss as your first go-to! Try to work the floss as close to the gum as possible while forming a c-shape with the floss around one tooth.
2. If the floss isnโt doing the trick, you can grab a toothpick to try to pop out the kernel.
3. Lastly, brushing is highly effective for removing debris like popcorn.
If all else fails, give us a call โ we would be happy to help! ๐ฒ
Which is better: an electric or manual toothbrush? ๐ฆท
Trick question. What matters most is HOW you brush your teeth:
1. Brush 2 times a day for 2 minutes.
2. Use soft bristles to avoid gum recession and use gentle circular movements.
Use whichever toothbrush you want, as long as you take daily steps to care for your oral health! ๐ ๐ ๐ฆท โค๏ธ
On this day, we encourage you to make time to think about what you want most out of life. Dust off your dreams and start taking action.
You never know what can happen when you take that first step!
Most gum disease and tooth loss is due to oral bacteria. These microorganisms are always present inside your mouth and are most active after you eat or drink.
To keep them at bay, itโs a must to practice consistent oral hygiene by brushing, flossing and using mouthwash daily. ๐ฆท ๐ โค๏ธ
