Don’t walk, RUN! Our final roast of Ethiopia Acacia hits cafe shelves today with online ordering available through the weekend.

A beautiful alternative to the Acacia is Ethiopia Jemjemo.

We’ve loved the variations of this coffee from last years harvest and eagerly await incoming Ethiopian coffees. Every year there are headwinds that face coffee production - from drought to freeze, to labor forces, and shipping channels. Many stateside coffee roasters are seeing delays in receiving 2024 harvest of Ethiopian coffees due to Red Sea pirates sending shipping carriers alternate routes.

If you’re a wholesale partner - we’ve got you squared away for Ethiopian coffee.

In cafe and e-commerce, expect the return of Ethiopian coffees by early October.

Farewell Guatemala San Lorenzo 👋🏼
It’s the final weekend you can get your hands on Guatemala San Lorenzo in store or online.

We’re eagerly awaiting this year’s Guatemala harvest to land and boy do we have exciting coffees to share with you.

Expect new Guatemalan coffees to hit shelves by September. In the meantime if you’re looking for a close alternative to San Lorenzo, we encourage you to try Mexico San Agustín.

You can find their drafts flowing every Thursday through Sunday mid block on 17th Street.

Context: a few months ago, our friends in Gresham had the rug ripped out from under them as they learned they’d need to secure a new space and move, all within a few short months. Their building had sold and the new owners wanted to take over their space.

The team at Legacy has secured their future location, completed their move and are working tirelessly to cross the finish line.
But they hit some hiccups and can use our help! As they finalize construction projects and await health department inspection to open their doors, they currently have no revenue stream.

As partners in the coffee community, we want to give back and help their team continue to be a legacy of hospitality, kindness, inclusion and damn good coffee in Gresham.

Throwback: it’s our anniversary week and we’re feeling reflective.

In our recent post we mention having no financial investors backing us. While this can be incredibly freeing, it’s also quite terrifying. We’re also aware that there’s not a single entity out there that is “self-made”, it’s the work of and contributions of many.

One person who we owe a gratitude of thanks to is Terry Montgomery. Terry has worked tirelessly in the background to help build and maintain the endless projects here at Relevant.

Thank you, Vancouver!

On March 11, 2017 we opened the doors to our tiny tasting room space, serving up attentive hospitality alongside our signature light-medium roasting style.

Our first cafe was small (425 sq. ft.) and humble; many even called it a “hole-in-the-wall.” Every fixture was hand built and pieced together on a tight budget — no investors here!

Initially the cafe opened as a tasting room and over time we built additional seating until we were at capacity; seating a total of 12 guests.

Within two years we outgrew the tiny cafe and
built our current cafe & roastery as a gathering point for our neighborhood to connect.

We are ever grateful to this community that adopted us, has championed our wins, and continues to delight us with friendship and a sense of place that extends well beyond a cup of coffee.

Thank you for seven incredible years!

It’s Sam Basarab’s last week with us here at Relevant. Sam is embarking on a much more tropical journey in Hawaii.

Sam has been a staple here at Relevant for the past 4 years. His curiosity and love for the craft has taken him from barista, to roaster, to competitive latte artist. His creativity paired with his wife Diana’s keen eye has kept our social media sharp. Sam, we are so proud of what you’ve accomplished while with us and our hearts are warmed by the bond you have made.

Stop on by Monday-Thursday to wish Sam well on his move!

Today was a bright light after a slow and trying January for many small businesses, thank you for showing up for us!

After an incredible 2.5 years our cafe manager and friend, Sasha King is venturing out on her own path of entrepreneurship.

Sasha is unwavering, kind, and embodies true care for the community around her. It’s time for Sasha to soar and we could not be more proud of the work and relationships she has developed while here at Relevant.

We will surely miss Sasha’s bright presence and big smile and are excited to see her follow her dreams. Come say farewell and help us send Sasha off before her last day on Friday, Feb 2nd.
