What is dew point?

Simply put, dew point is the temperature in which moisture can start forming on objects that are below the dew point temperature.

With the extreme heat of Florida summer and the amount of rain that hurricane Debby gave us. Dew point temperatures are extremely high 80-86 degrees.

What does that mean?

It means that your air conditioner is sweating so that you won't have to. With extremely high dew points and the amount of time that the air conditioners are running to cool your home, it is very common to have the temperature of the air handler to fall below the dew point temperature and have condensation form on the outside of the air handler cabinet.

As dew point temperatures start to fall, the sweating of the air handler will become less. If long term sweating exists on your air handler, there may be an underlying issue causing that.
