It hurt TERRIBLY to be forced to leave it behind.

I haven't gone MIA.

Unfortunately, the past 3 months have been more difficult than I ever expected.
I had HOPED that selling the salon, removing myself from the never ending business demands that needed my constant attention, would feel like a HUGE weight lifted.
I thought that I would take maybe a FEW weeks off, follow docs orders, then get back to at least 'Working Behind The Chair', something I LOVE to do (much more than actually running a business).
Unfortunately, that's not how things went down.

Instead, it proved to be one of the most challenging times of my life.

I left the salon CRUSHED, and spent several weeks going through what I can only call a GRIEVING PROCESS.
I know that may sound weird to some, But, trust me, I have grieved enough in my life to know what it feels like.

I had to leave the business I LOVED behind, stop doing what I LOVE, leaving so many people that I love, and have been HUGE PART OF MY LIFE.
It was all there, and then it was all gone- basically overnight.
It all hit me hard.
AND
I NEVER expected it!

As some know, I fought for years to get well, so that such a permanent step wouldn't become my final option. It was.

Sadly, it turns out that my health is worse than I originally thought.
MAYBE if I had taken time off back when docs first told me to, I might not have gotten as progressively ill.
But I was stupid, and thought I could 'push through'.
Many lessons learned along the way.

Docs have now uncovered more diseases/dysfunctions, and we're still working on getting all of the debilitating symptoms better stabilized.
I am confident that I will get a handle on all of this- SOON.

I want to reach out to each of you individually, but there just isn't enough time in the day, or I don't feel well, or I'm stuck at YET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT/TREATMENT.
I hope this reaches at least MOST of you.

I hope to be up and running soon, but I do need more time, and I don't know what time will tell.
My docs have warned me that if I push it AT ALL, I will shut completely down---again.

I'm so very sorry that my body isn't cooperating as I'd hoped.

I hope everybody is doing well, and I look forward to talking to/ seeing you one day soon!

It is with a VERY BROKEN HEART💔 that I say that Shore Style Salon is no more.
Believe me, I know 100% without a doubt that I HAD to do this.
But, knowing it's the right thing to do,doesn't make it any easier or hurt any less.😞
Closing the salon has been one of the most HEART WRENCHING things I've had to do in my life.

( and I've done MANY!)

I LOVED my salon, and NEVER planned to leave.
Apparently God has something else in mind for me😉😇.

I have been TRULY BLESSED to have the most AMAZING clients. I consider you all dear friends and/or family.
Most of you I have known for more years than I can ever count.
Not only do I love WHAT I do- but I LOVE to see each and every one of you during your visits.
We have all been through SO MANY PHASES of our lives together-illnesses,pregnancies, deaths,horrible boy friends ,great boyfriends,Good & bad marriages,
divorces.... the stories are endless.
Often times, I had at least 3 generations of family members at the same time.

I don't think any of you know how very happy I have always felt to see you all walk out of the salon, feeling good on the inside and out- with a big smile on your faces.😊🙏🏻💇🏼
Especially when any of you came in feeling BLAH.
You all left with a smile on your faces.
That has always made my heart so very HAPPY.❤️😊💇🏼
It made me feel as though my services were sometimes taking a back
seat during our visits.
The actual color/cut/style was just a PART of our time together.
You all seemed so happy all the way around.

You've shared your LIVES with me. Which has been a TRUE HONOR.
We laughed and cried together. We bonded.
( which when deciding on
Color/cuts/styles can help with choosing what's best..
AND
NOT TO WORRY-
whatever you shared with me-
I will take it ALL to the grave!🙈🙉🙊🤐😉😁

Sadly, as many of you now know, I've had ongoing chronic diseases that I have been fighting for quite some time,
I now know that there was NO WAY that if I kept going at the salon -as my health deteriorated-
That I could give my clients 110% ,anymore.
That's one of the many problems I faced, without at least taking this needed rest, and doing whatever treatments and surgeries/ I need to do , but
my schedule would just not allow. I had no choice but to eliminate the stress of ownership, while taking care of my clients ONLY, which is my hope for the future.

I have put all of these major changes off for a very long time, hiding my health issues as much as I could,( as long as it didn't compromise my work!),
But,as I said, I thought
I could PUSH myself past all of this.

The latest medical tests show that things have progressed somewhat ,so I really need to focus on me right now(something I am NOT USED TO)
But-
It's now or never.
As I said, this has been one of the very worst and most difficult decisions I've ever had to make.

I will be reaching out to you all via text message as well, so I'm sure I won't miss anybody.
I have 2 salons/stylists that I would recommend for you to see until I can return to work.
If you decide to go elsewhere, or decide to stay with either of the stylists I've recommended, please know that I completely understand. There will be NO HARD FEELNGS.
I'd also be happy to share your color formulations with you or whoever you choose.
Your comfort and happiness are PRIORITY ONE.
Again- I will text you all with additional information, once I know what I'll be doing &
And-again- God willing- removing all of my responsibility of salon OWNERSHIP, and focusing on my clients needs ONLY, will be of benefit to all.

Please know that I love you all, and I am focusing on what's truly best for YOU.

I can't thank you enough for how much you've all enriched my life in so many ways, your loyalty, your friendship, your understanding, your generosity, the list is endless. You will all always remain a huge part of my life's journey, wherever I end up.

The Latest Update for any interested....

Well I'm now on the OFFICIAL CONTDOWN.
Just a few more days of SHORE STYLE SALON.
I haven't written much because I am extremely emotional about the whole thing.
I NEVER planned on having to step down and take time away from the one thing I've loved doing for about 34 years, and planned on doing until I dropped.

BUT-
Change is A COMIN'!

Effective June 1st 2017, Shore Style Salon will be under new ownership (with a new name.)

The decision to sell has been a very difficult and heartbreaking one.
However, my deteriorating health has forced my hand.

Shore Style Salon was built with blood, sweat and tears, and I have loved this salon from day one.
But I am now forced to take a break from what I love to do in order to focus on restoring my health.
Believe me- for the last 5 years, I've tried everything possible to avoid this drastic step.
Unfortunately, nothing I've changed so far, has been 'ENOUGH'.
I need time off for surgeries and treatments that I can no longer put off.
My chronic illnesses have been progressing, so I have no choice but to
focus on getting well.
This will now be my 'full time job'-----
for now.

I hope to be back to 'KEEPING AMERICA BEAUTIFUL' somewhere soon, and look forward to seeing you all again asap.
