🎨 What a great day at Ventura Harbor for the Ventura Art & Chalk Festival today. Our booth is a few doors down from Brophy Brothers, so stop by tomorrow and say hello! The kids enjoyed painting the kites we have available for a small donation and we had an opportunity to meet new creatives.

👩🏼‍🎨👨🏻‍🎨 We’ve got a Membership Drive and some serious Fundraising to do for our future move to the Harbor. More on that later. We’ll explain as best we can what we are up to these days, so come on out, it’s free to the public, open from 10am-5pm and the weather couldn’t have been better. We’ll order the same for you tomorrow Sunday, September 15 🌻

I am Ashley Calhoun,
Liaison to the Board of Directors from BAA's new Membership committee.
We invite you to help BAA to meet and welcome potential new members at one of our two booths at the Museum of Ventura County.

Priority: Booth Set up & Breakdown
Saturday 10am-11am SET UP
Sunday after 4pm BREAKDOWN
Please Note: Access to the parking lot is strictly Sat. 10am-11am for unloading and AFTER 4pm Sunday to pack up.

Booth hours:
Saturday 12-5pm
Sunday 11-4pm

Sarah Udoji, another Membership committee member, and I will be there both days.
We could certainly use a few breaks to make the rounds and send people back to our booth to get to know YOU, our members 🙂

Monday (knock on wood) I’ll have a draft master schedule to share so we can keep track of any changes/conflicts in the days leading up.

Visit us at our Studio 99 @ The Bell Arts Factory location for ArtWalk where Deborah Paulsen ‘s "Fantastical Blues" will be on exhibit AND stop by our booth in the Museum of Ventura County's plaza to watch plein air demonstrations by BAA artists Marita Peres Redondo and Jim Darin‼️

A second BAA booth will feature the art of Bonny Butler Art and Eva Montealegre who will donate 50% to 100% of the proceeds from purchases of their artwork to BAA and its new ventures in arts education and community engagement. Dedicated Board Members who put their money where their heart is! Stop by for more information about upcoming workshops and opportunities with BAA.

Ventura Art & Chalk Festival is back THIS WEEKEND! Join us at Ventura Harbor Village on Sept. 14-15, 10 AM - 5 PM for a weekend of vibrant chalk art, a craftsman vendors market, and family fun! Don’t miss Greg Wray’s Sonic the Hedgehog mural and creative activities for all ages.

Ventura Harbor

Do you know a Beginning Artist who might be ready for the next step? Darlene Roker is having a workshop on October 26th. From 12-2pm you will learn the basics on how to get your art ready to hang in an exhibit.

The first part will consist of showing you how to mat, frame and wire your art piece. During the second part, tools and equipment will be available to help you get your own piece ready for hanging. Participants can bring one piece of their own art - preferably no larger than 8x10 - with a mat and frame, and the class will supply the rest: D rings, screws, drill, wire, artist tape. You'll leave with your art ready for showing!

Location will be at Studio 99 in the back of The Bell Arts Factory-432 N Ventura Ave, Ventura.

What a fun time with Deborah Paulsen last night at Studio 99 for 1st Friday opening reception. Fantastic art! If you missed last night, stop by today from 12-4pm, we’re open!

Isn’t she beautiful? She’s especially beaming after her dad bought her a custom made, glow-in-the-dark, pink and white sparkling resin Mermaid Tail necklace created by Dawn Reily! You can find more of these sweet necklaces plus other great gift items along with lots of fine art only at the Harbor Village Gallery & Gifts.

Longtime artist and art instructor Deborah Paulsen will present her first Buenaventura Art Association solo exhibition Sept. 6-Oct. 26 in Studio 99, BAA’s Ventura headquarters in Bell Arts Factory, 432 N. Ventura Ave.

Using hot beeswax and damar resin with added shellac, oil paints and pigment sticks, she creates encaustic paintings on cradled wooden panels and will display about 18 works in a show titled “Fantastical Blues.”

Deborah Paulsen will be on hand to discuss her art and the encaustic process TONIGHT First Friday receptions 6-9 p.m. Sept. 6 and Oct. 4 and during Ventura’s annual ArtWalk Ventura, noon-5 p.m. Sept. 21 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 22

Artists in The Collage Lab, a Buenaventura Art Association offshoot, began to experiment in collage and mixed media ten years ago. Members Janet Laack Black, Karen Hoffberg, Darlene Roker, Wendy Winet, Janna Valenzuela, Karen L. Brown, Joyce Lombard, Dorothea Heger and Tasia Erickson meet monthly to set creative challenges, share ideas and results, demonstrate techniques, and occasionally to visit galleries.

Join us for an amazing weekend of chalk art, street painting, creative vendors, live entertainment and the beauty of the Ventura County Coast. Admission and parking are complimentary!

Vendors will showcase their work in the parking lot between Andria’s Seafood and Brophy Bros from 10am-5pm. Additionally, the sidewalks along the water will be the canvas for street artists who will be creating colorful chalk paste murals. It’s going to be a day you don’t want to miss!
