Our Wild Thing Karts season has come to a close at Stafford Motor Speedway and it ended with a lot of lessons learned and some great accomplishments!

To start off, the racing for the day:
Daltyn went out for practice and for the fourth week in a row he came in telling us “this kart is not the kart I had at the beginning of the season something is not right.” So we told him if he was willing to miss second practice we would tear this thing apart and make sure it got the maintenance and attention it needed and deserved. We changed his gearing back to where he started the season, found his clutch had been burnt up for who knows how long and swapped out a few other necessary items. Lesson #1 “There are no secrets in life, just hidden truths and lies beneath the surfaces.”

We got him out for the heats which were based on time trials. Daltyn’s best lap was tampered with a little, as he was pulling a great lap he saw an official adjusting a stalled kart at the start finish line and let off the gas thinking he was going to be in trouble for rushing the line, so his best time was 19.323. This landed him in the Tiger C feature p5.

Daltyn found that speed he had in those early weeks in his feature, but found himself in an early scuffle that should have been a caution flag, but was not, that landed him at the back of the pack. He worked hard to chase down the pack and didn’t give up cause he knew that car would stick this week, thanks his sponsor Precision Motor Coach coming out to help us in the pits this week and mom and dad making sure that kart was performing at top notch. Lesson #2 “Those that want to see you succeed will prioritize your needs and ensure your victories”
Daltyn ended the race in p8, not the podium he wanted, but that leads us to lesson #3 “while we don’t always get what we want, we get what we choose.” And Daltyn is choosing to see that he knows he’s not ending this year in 21st in points like last year. (Point standings to come)

The 48 team sponsored by O'Reilly Auto Parts and Precision Motor Coach will most likely be making 1-2 more appearances at Pomfret before the season is over in the Jr Outlaw and plenty more lessons to come as we haven’t disclosed all we have learned! 😊

Daltyn had a great weekend of racing! His focus was getting seat time in the Jr Outlaw as he puts it that thing is so big he’s still gotta figure out where exactly to look for things and what to do with all the extra room! Saturday he got 4th in both his tiger b and jr outlaw feature and Sunday he took 5th in tiger b and 3rd in jr outlaw.
We learned a lot of things for next year and look forward to learning a lot more about the kart.

Labor Day Shoot Out Round Two!

Happy Labor Day weekend! The 48 team will be spending this great long weekend at Pomfret Speedway for their Labor Day Shoot Out! Daltyn will be pulling double duty in his Tiger Sprint and Jr Outlaw! Come one down and check it out if you’re looking for a way to catch some sunshine and great racing!!

Gonna be a busy night as Daltyn pulls double duty running his Tiger Sprint as well as making his debut in his Junior Outlaw! Let’s Go 48!!!!

No racing Monday so we took this weekend to get Daltyn’s outlaw ready. Seat and engine installed also got the kart scaled. Actually had to add lead to make sure he makes minimum weight for the junior outlaw class. We are excited to see what Daltyn will do when he is one of the lightest karts in the field. Daltyn has learned so much in such a short time. We are hoping to see him run at least two races this season at Stafford Motor Speedway in the Wild Thing Karts series. Another Monday another night of racing action for Daltyn and the rest of the Wild Thing Karts series. Keeping a close eye on the weather today hoping these morning showers clear out and the track crew can get the surface ready for racing. Fingers crossed as Daltyn looks to climb the to the top of the points standings in only his second year of racing. This kid has the drive and skills to compete with drivers that have more seat time than him. He doesn’t let their experience deter him as he has been faster than most all year regardless of their experience. Come on down and show your support for Daltyn and the number 48 team.

Another great week of racing in the books for the 48! Daltyn kicked off the night in P5 for his heat and since the Tiger B division was a little light this week with vacations he needed to make his way up to 3 or be the fastest 4 to make B’s. He did just that pulled off a P4 finish and qualified for the Tiger B race.

After a very long rain delay the feature saw Daltyn starting P7 in his feature. Due to no fault of his own he fought his equipment most of the feature (mom didn’t strap his HANS device in right so it kept digging into him and hurting him 😞) this error kept him at the back of the pack but he didn’t give up. He held his position and maintained the P7 finish on the lead lap and with no scuffles.

Been a busy summer week sorry for the delay! Monday Daltyn was driving his rocket ship like a pro! He started 5th in his heat and quickly with the precision of a pilot made it to 2nd where he finished. This put him in the Tiger B race!!! He started p6. After a few bumps and one good scuffle on the back stretch that sent sparks flying he pushed to p5 where he finished. The tiger b class was very well matched this week with all the drivers staying tightly packed together. We are super proud of Daltyn and all his fellow racers as each week we see them strengthening their skills!

After Daltyn’s P10 finish due to a flat tire last week he was determined to prove it was a fluke. Daltyn put his game face on and started P3 in is heat. After some great racing action he was able to hold on to P3 and put himself into the top half of the field for the feature. Daltyn started P9 in his feature and was able to avoid multiple incidents while driving through the field. After a late caution Daltyn restarted P2 and was able to hold off the other drivers to secure another podium this week. Daltyn is having a tremendous year with four podium finishes including two wins and two P2s in just seven weeks of racing. This kid has really figured it out and has come a very long way from last year. We are so proud of his improvements over last year and his relentless pursuit of being the fastest Tiger Sprint each and every week. Daltyn knows that no matter where he starts, he always has a shot at a win due to his competitive driving skills. There is no greater indication of that than hearing other parents on the starting line talking about watching Daltyn and his line like they are going home and studying him. We would like to thank Stafford Motor Speedway for the amazing facility that they allow Wade Gagner and the rest his team to put on the Wild Thing Karts series giving all of these racers a safe way to race each week.
