Our Story

In the Nuclear Industry, AFO glasses can be used as:

Windows and lenses in nuclear safety monitoring and inspection equipment. Lenses for cameras will enable the monitoring of high energy environments. Such cameras can be attached to the end of fuel manipulation cranes allowing for safer alignment and extraction of fuel bundles from the reactors core.

Safer, more stable glass for the vitrification of nuclear waste. Tests performed by a national lab show that the glasses have exceptionally low leaching. They can allow for more waste loading due to their unique matrix.

These radiation resistant glasses have exceptional qualities in high energy inspection machinery used in the Industrial, Cargo Inspection, Small Cargo Inspection, and Luggage Screening industries. They allow for the systems to have better spatial resolution at a fraction of the cost of traditional materials used while significantly lowering overall maintenance expenses.

In the Laser Industry AFO glasses serve as high energy laser host material that could break through current technological barriers allowing for more powerful, lighter, and smaller solid state lasers. Two national labs and several universities tested AFO glasses for certain qualities that would set the standards for next generation high energy solid state disk laser hosts, and all tests conclusively showed that AFO’s glasses outperformed leading commercially available glasses used today in the industry.
