IMPORTANT NOTES: Universal Half Slider Windows
Since these windows are a clamp ring installation and non-contoured, they leave the Van at risk of buckling or distorting the wall.
To deal with this scenario, often installing the clamp ring extremely slowly, literally a couple of threads of the screw at a time, will allow everything to gradually merge and be less likely to buckle the Van wall. If this method is unsuitable, replace a closed-cell foam seal with a larger open-cell (open cell is more spongy, often use 1" thick as it will collapse to 1/4" ). Another method is a thin luan wood on the interior, creating an expanded backplate to dissipate away from the Window.

How will I install this Window?
You will need to create a template to install the VW Series of windows. To make a template, you can use the aluminum framing on the backside of the Window or the clamp ring. We will have illustrations of using the clamp ring. Be sure to use the clamp ring's edge that matches the Window's aluminum frame edge (the aluminum frame that goes through the wall).
Ensure that the clamp ring is taped shut, as it has an opening.
You will then trace your template onto the cardboard box sharpie, black marker, etc. you do not want to have too wide of quality, as you want to try and be as precise as possible.
After you have drawn out the pattern on the cardboard, it is time to cut it.
Once your template is created, clean up any rough edges, and we will be ready to place it on your Van. You will want to measure out for placement to ensure you have your template where you want it to be. You can put screws through the cardboard to maintain the template, have a partner hold it, or use tape to hold the template in place. In our photo, we used tape. Be sure to tape the template in place on the temperate areas so those are easy to draw in your line later.
Draw your template onto the wall of the Van.
Once you have drawn your pattern onto the van wall and are happy with the placement, you are ready to cut. Reciprocating saw, skill saw, disc, nibbler, shears, etc...
Once your hole is made dry, fit the Window to make sure the Window fits into the hole. No adjustments or extra trimming are needed. You can add a clear coat or paint to the cut edge if you are good. Again, it's not necessary, just a precaution.
Tape your window installation foam on the backside of your Window's aluminum frame so it will get sandwiched between the edge of the Window and the body of your Van
Now time to install the Window. Before putting the Window on the Van, it's best to go through and make a small pilot hole in all the locations around the trim ring. That way, you do not get around the heads of the screws when tightening the Window.
Put the Window in place from the outside of the Van, allowing the aluminum mounting frame to extend through a hole in the wall. Next, place the clamp ring from the inside. Most vans will have the split on the bottom. With one person holding the Window in place on the outside, the other can start to screw from the inside generally, beginning with the two at the split in the trim ring to have that lined up, then top and around. You do not want to tighten once all screws are in place; you can then go back around and pull them. Be sure to tighten evenly around for proper seal. ⚡️

The Sprinter Van Window utilizes factory metal stamping; on Van's interior, you will notice an area where the inner metal ends. Here is a photo to clarify. You will cut right along with that edge around. Also, your Van may have multiple uprights. You will cut those out straight with your opening.
When replacing an existing factory window, you may want to contact us or provide photos inside and out. Not all replacements will be straightforward and require extra commendation and custom adaptation to use an existing factory or add-on item(s). Van Windows Direct and the manufacturers we distribute take no responsibility for additional work or an installer's inability to complete the work required. Please ask all questions and provide all information before purchase, as the buyer is 100% responsible for the installation or failure to install.
If replacing an existing factory Sprinter Van window glued in, you may want to take it to a professional for removal and replacement. The best tool to use is a wire cutter Equalizer Window Cut-Out Set. Once the Window is cut out, you will need to cut the original urethane down as flat as possible and clean as much away as possible with CRL Adhesive Cleaner.
Once the Hole has been removed from the Window,d, it's time to install the new Window.
The CRL Window utilizes a trim ring (clamp ring) installation. Before putting the Window on the Van, it's best to go through and make a small pilot hole in all the locations around the trim ring. That way, you do not get around the heads of the screws when tightening the Window.

VWD Awning Windows are the Flagship Window of the Van Windows Direct Window Selection.
The Van Windows Direct Awning Series of Windows are the pinnacle of Aftermarket Van Windows setting a standard far above today's current offerings. What do you get with a VWD Awning Van Window? EVERYTHING!
Alright, perhaps not everything but let's go over what we have packed into this window.
Viewability - Our Awning series of windows has the largest viewing area of any of the vented styles of windows we sell the only window surpassing is Solid Windows and it's not by much. Let us explain the main glass of the window is a solid window and only a minimalistic frame surrounds the awning glass giving you an unmatched viewing area in an opening window.
Ventilation - Till now the choices have been sliding or awning. Sliding large un-obstructed opening, while previous awnings had smaller tilt out the glass with obstructed airflow preferred in the rain though. The VWD Awning Window adds an opening that rivals some sliders and tilts out 70°. Ventilation of a Slider convenience of an awning.
Convenience - Just like with ventilation things have always been split so when we designed our Awning, we wanted the ultimate accessibility. Limitations of current offerings many of the awning windows are not recommended to open while driving, and sliding windows are generally not open during rain.
The VWD Window has addressed these shortcomings by having heavy-duty pistons that hold the glass open that feature a locking k**b this provides extra security for the window and the ability to open the vent a couple of inches and lock the pistons and use it while driving. Rain Shine, Camping, or Road Tripping the VWD Awning Window will be there for you.
So, we have already gone over a lot of information for this window, and we have yet to mention some of the interior functionality of the window. We have an accordion-style screen that is incased into the frame of the awning window, so open the window to the desired location by utilizing the two locking levers, then simply pull down the screen and enjoy a large, screened opening.
Security - We take the security of our windows seriously. When the window is closed two levers swing and lockdown on both bottom corners of the window. You then push the release button to swing the lever open making it nearly impossible for a would-be thief to enter through awning glass when locked. What about when it's opened though? To add an additional layer of protection the hydraulic pistons feature locking k**bs so if you are in an area where a little more security would be nice, and you still want ventilation just slightly open the awning glass lock the piston k**bs down so the window will not be able to be moved from the outside making it far more difficult to utilize the opening as entering point.

How will I install this window?
You will need to create a template to cut your window hole. The easiest way is to use the cardboard box the window came in. A quick way is to make a rectangle pattern first about the cut hole measurement. Approx.: # # # # # # # # #. Once you have your rectangle cut out. Lay on the inside of the bunk window making sure the frame and Triangular drainages on the bottom are within the template as that will need to go through the hole of the wall.
If you are comfortable with the size of the template, you can hand draw or use a protractor for rounded corners.
Always double-check to ensure you have everything correct.
When drawing the template to the van if there are two people great. One can hold it while the other draws it out. If you are installing solo, once you know the spot you will be placing the window you can screw the cardboard into the sidewall to hold it in place, then draw your pattern.
Use a black marker for most vans. White-Out or White marker on Black vans.
Once your template is drawn onto the van, dry fit your window in place before cutting anything just to double-check that you are happy with the placement. Once confirmed, time to cut.
Cut out your hole with your choice of tool reciprocating saw, sheers, disc, etc...
Once the Hole has been cut out Dry fit your window in place. This is also a good time to practice placement as the bunk window will end up having the urethane on the window and you will set it into the hole for final attachment.
It is now time to begin the installation and clean the Bunk window with glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol emphasizing the areas where the urethane will be placed (blacked-out area on the backside of the window). Clean the wall of the Van around the opening same method.
Now using cotton daubers, you are going to apply primer to the wall of the van you do not need to put primer on the window. Since these bunk windows have such a small outside overlap, we like to tape off the wall of the van leaving only a 5/8” gap from cut edge to tape. Then apply the primer to the wall between the cut edge and tape. The reason for this is we do not want to go too far and have anything visible after installation. Wait about 10-15 mins for the primer to set. You can now remove the tape you were masking the wall off with.
If you are now ready to install the window, we will move on to the urethane application. If you are still a little uncomfortable with making sure you are setting in the exact location. You can once again dry fit the window get it in its perfect spot then apply securing tape or painters’ tape as if you were taping the window in place for the final time hover to make sure they are straight one in each corner top and bottom then one on each side, leaving the tape on wall and window use a razor to slice tape. This will now give you six markers for lining up the window.
Let us move on to the urethane application you will cut your urethane tip straight across no V-notch you want it to be a tootsie roll size of urethane make sure you evenly distribute straight to the frit (Blacked out Glass around the edge) - (backside of the window) itself not onto the wall and right next to the frame of the window.
The most important part of a urethane window installation is consistency in the bead of urethane. If you are happy with the bead your primer is set, and you have removed the tape that was masking the primer. Now you will place the window into the hole. If you have two people, it's a great one on the inside that can pull on the frame and line up the other outside ensuring the window does not fall. Once you have the window in the hole and in the place, you will want to open your hand to smack the window down. The goal with the window on a (Sprinter, Transit, or ProMaster) is to have the glass about even with the outer body. You do not want to place a small amount of urethane and have the glass flush on the wall while you may feel the aesthetic look is nicer when fluctuating temperatures shatter the glass will not be so appealing. You want to have about a ¼” gap between glass and wall which again will put you about flush with the outer body. On Vans without inset window sections window will hover on the outside. (This is not different between a clamp ring window or urethane, a clamp ring will have foam that fills the gap giving a flusher look however urethane is a far superior attachment method).
Now that your window is set in place use Window securing tape, to hold the window in place. You will be able to drive your Van after 3 hrs. and remove the tape after 24hrs, best to wait for 72hrs before washing the vehicle. (Colder temperatures 50degrees and below double time)
There may be urethane then oozes into the interior of the van, using glass cleaner spray the urethane with a liberal amount then using a plastic putty knife smooth the urethane out like you spackling a wall to ensure complete coverage of the hole and a nicer appearance.

How will I install this window?
The Ford Transit Van Windows with Medium or High Roof Van Window utilize factory metal stamping; on the van's interior, you will notice an area where the inner metal ends. Here is a photo to clarify. You will cut right along with that edge all the way around. Your van may have multiple uprights. You will cut those out straight with your opening.
REPLACING AN EXISTING OEM WINDOW:
When replacing an existing factory window, you may want to contact us or provide photos inside and out. Not all replacements will be straightforward and can require extra commendation and custom adaptation to use an existing factory or add-on item(s). Van Windows Direct and the manufacturers we distribute take no responsibility for additional work or an installer's inability to complete the work required. Please ask all questions and provide all information before purchase, as the buyer is 100% responsible for the installation or failure to install.
If you are replacing a factory window that urethane bonded, you may want to take it to a professional for removal and replacement. If doing it on your own best tool to use is a wire cutter Equalizer Window Cut-Out Set. Once the window is cut out, you will need to cut the original urethane down as flat as possible and clean as much away as you can. We offer CRL Adhesive Cleaner. Other products that can help clean up the existing urethane will be (Acetone, Goo-Gone, and WD-40). After using any cleaning product, be sure to clean the wall with soap and water or rubbing alcohol. We also offer PWR22 Cleaner prior to applying the new primer and urethane. (Skip below for window urethane bonding).
ADDING WINDOW TO A VAN WITHOUT WINDOWS:
If you have the following tools, cutting can be done on the inside with no template or mirroring of the interior stamping to the outside. (Body Saw, Air Saw, One-Handed Reciprocating Saw)
Drill a hole with a bit large enough to accommodate the blade of your cutting tool. Drill within the single sheet metal section that will be cut out, then work your blade down to the OEM stamp line. Follow the stamp line all the way around the section to produce your window cut hole. (Any interior supports in the window sections can be cut out as they are unnecessary).
**TIP - Cut sides and bottom first leaving the top cut for last so the sheet metal does not start bending while cutting.
Once your hole has been cut, file any rough edges or high points to smooth the cut line. While most will trim and not see the raw edge, the smoother and straighter the cut, the better the trim will appear when it is time to place it. Once happy with the cutout and filed down smooth, you may want to prime the raw metal edge before installing edge molding. While this is not a necessary step, it's easy and offers additional peace of mind.
If you use edge molding, now will be the time to install it. Window Edge Molding is not necessary for the installation of the window. It will offer a better appearance on the van's interior by covering the raw cut edge. If your interior walls cover the cut edge, then there is no reason to trim something that will be hidden. When ordering trim, it is sold from a bulk roll by the foot, and there is a drop-down box for proper sizing for your van. Most vans will cover both inner and outer sheet metal edges with the trim. The trim on the outside will not affect the window installation as the urethane bead will be taller than the thickness of the trim.
**TIP- An adhesive foam material is often injected between the two sheet metals from the factory. If you are having a tough time getting the trim to cap both sheet metal edges cut the foam away from the cut edge till you can squeeze the metals together and cap with trim molding.
**TIP - Dry fitting the window before urethane bonding can help familiarize yourself with placement. Also, you can place securing tape/masking/painters’ tape in corners and side middle on to glass, then onto body cut tape, leaving on both window and van body as added line-up markers for easier placement.
URETHANE BONDING OF WINDOW:
Using a urethane primer, apply it to the outside of the body. You want to apply close to the opening but allow a 1/2" gap when possible that way, when the urethane is applied and spreads less likely to have urethane seeping out from the glass edge on the outside of the van. Only one line of primer is needed and only on the Van wall. Multiple lines and/or Primer on the glass are unnecessary and ultimately just product waste. After you have painted your primer line around your cut hole, allow the primer to dry for about 10 minutes.
When using Automotive Urethane, a regular everyday caulking gun will not work. We recommend no less than a 12:1 Thrust Ratio (Commercial/Professional Grade) or above. We offer a 26:1 Ratio Gun in our Parts & Accessories Section.
If you order the urethane from us, the tip will have an embossed cutline on the tip showing a cut across the tip and a v-notch. This will be where you will want to cut the tip for your perfect-sized urethane bead. When applying the urethane to the van, the V will trail your application patch, so you end up with a pyramid-looking bead.
We recommend starting a few inches down from the top rear corner of the window so you can avoid having a joint from one tube to the next on the top or front of the window. If it happens, it will not be a catastrophe, just if it can be done where the top and front are one continuous bead that reduces the risk of a leak. With larger windows (Most side OEM fit window) will require a second tube of urethane when one bead end starts the next about a 1/2" into the already applied bead (smooth together with a plastic putty knife/wood stick, flat screwdriver, etc...) Spraying a liberal amount of glass cleaner onto the tool will help keep the urethane from sticking to the tool and clumping.
**TIP - When applying urethane bead, consistency is key to a great install. Thicker and thinner spots can lead to leakage.
INSTALLING WINDOW TO URETHANE:
Having two people for window placement is always nice one holds the front bottom corner, the other the rear bottom corner. OEM fit windows will have about a 1/4" gap from the body line to the glass. Get the bottom edge lined up, holding the glass back away from the wall on top at a slight angle / once you have your gap lined up at the bottom and your front and rear edges are lined up where you want to tilt the window up and press into urethane you do not need to push too hard as the urethane has very strong adhesion and will grab on to window quickly. Keep a hand pressing on the window to keep the position. If all is good, open your hand and smack the glass down, following the patch of your urethane bead. The goal of modern vans with insert areas for windows will be to get the glass even with the outer body of Van the body above and below the window section, so it is a fluid transition from sheet metal to glass to sheet metal again.
Once the window is in the desired location, use Window securing tape to tape each corner with 3-4 strips to keep the glass in place. If you plan on driving a van within the first 24hrs, you can also tape the edge all around to keep the urethane beads clean from contaminants while traveling.
Recommendations
3-Hours of set time before driving (Keep all windows closed and A/C using recirculate during the first 24hrs)
3 Days minimum before washing vehicle (Some car wash soaps have alcohol that can deteriorate some of the urethane seals) ⚡️

You will need to create a template to cut your window hole. The easiest way is to use the cardboard box the window came in. Once your rectangle is cut out, lay it on the inside of the bunk window, ensuring the frame and Triangular drainages on the bottom are within the template, as that will need to go through the wall's hole.

When drawing the template to the Van, if there are two people, great, one can hold it while the other draws it out. If you install solo, once you know the spot you will be placing the window, you can screw the cardboard into the side wall to hold it in place, then draw your pattern.
Use a black marker for most vans. White-Out or White slip-on Black vans.
Once your template is drawn onto the Van, dry-fit your window before cutting anything to double-check that you are happy with the placement. Once confirmed, time to cut.
Cut out your hole with your choice of tool, reciprocating saw, sheers, disc, etc...
Once the Hole has been cut out, Dry fit your window in place. This is also an excellent time to practice placement as the bunk window will end up having the urethane on the window, and you will set it into holes for final attachment.
It is now time to begin the installation. Clean the Bunk window with glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol, emphasizing the areas where the urethane will be placed (blacked-out space on the back side of the window)—next, clean the wall of the Van around the same opening method.
Now using cotton daubers, you will apply primer to the van wall. You do not need to put primer on the window. Since these bunk windows have such a small outside overlap, we like to tape off Van's wall, leaving only a 5/8” gap from the cut edge to tape. Then apply the primer to the border between the cut edge and the video. This is because we do not want to go too far and have anything visible after installation. Wait about 10-15 mins for the primer to set. You can now remove the tape you were masking the wall off with.
We will move on to the urethane application if you are ready to install the window. If you are still a little uncomfortable, make sure you are sitting in the exact location. You can once again dry fit the window, get it in its perfect spot, then apply to secure tape or painters’ tape as if you were taping the window in place for the final time hover to make sure they are straight, one in each corner top and bottom. One on each side, leaving the tape on the wall and window, use a razor to slice the tape. This will now give you six markers for lining up the window.
Let us move on to the urethane application. You will cut your urethane tip straight across with no V-notch. You want it to be a tootsie roll size of urethane. Make sure you evenly distribute directly to the frit (Blacked out Glass around the edge) - (back side of the window) itself, not onto the wall and right next to the window's frame.
The most important part of a urethane window installation is consistency in the bead of urethane. If you are happy with the dot, your primer is set, and you have removed the tape that was masking the primer. Now you will place the window into the hole. If you have two people, it's a great one on the inside that can pull on the frame and line up the other outside, ensuring the window does not fall. Once you have the window in the hole and the place, you won't have an open hand to smack the window down. The goal with the window on a (Sprinter, Transit, or ProMaster) is to have the glass about even with the outer body. You do not want to place a small amount of urethane and have the glass flush on the wall. While you may feel the aesthetic look is more excellent, the glass will not be so appealing when fluctuating temperatures shatter. You want to have about a ¼” gap between the glass and the wall, which again will put you about flush with the outer body. On Vans without inset window sections window will hover on the outside. (This is not different between a clamp ring window or urethane, a clamp ring will have foam that fills the gap giving a flusher look; however, urethane is a far superior attachment method).
Now that your window is set in place use Window securing tape to hold the window in place. You will be able to drive your Van after three hrs. and remove the video after 24hrs; best to wait for 72hrs before washing the vehicle. (Colder temperatures 50degrees and below double time)
There may be urethane then oozes into the interior of the Van; using a glass cleaner, spray the urethane with a liberal amount than using a plastic putty knife, smooth the urethane out like you are spackling a wall to ensure complete coverage of the hole and a more excellent appearance.
