Welcome and congratulations to our newest team members Johnathan and Alicia who were sworn in by Deputy Morales yesterday.
Tonight, Deputy Richard Morales had the honor of Swearing in 2 new members to the Victor valley Search and Rescue Team. At the same time, the Phelan Posse was conducting their monthly training. The Victor Valley Station is home to four search and rescue teams, and we are always looking for dedicated volunteers.

Today, our team members participated in a monthly training exercise to ensure that we are always on top of our skills and ready to deploy on a mission. This month’s training consisted of ulilization of GPS in the field as well as a mock grid search. Typically, grid searches are vital in carrying out missions to make sure our rescuers don’t miss any clues or details throughout the search. Navigation via GPS is also another important and vital tool for our members in order to keep track of their location and the ground they’ve covered.

On December 14, 2019, Tim Staples made the ultimate sacrifice while serving as a volunteer with the department. Tim was a dedicated, highly trained member of the West Valley Search and Rescue team. During his nine years, Tim volunteered hundreds of hours and successfully reunited lost hikers with their loved ones.
Please take a moment to remember Tim and the sacrifice he made. Tim embodied the Search and Rescue motto, “So others may live” in his dedication to the citizens of San Bernardino County.
