Gum Disease at all levels in Curable
(Myth, only stage 1, gingivitis can be reversed)

Gum Disease only affect older adults.
(Myth, can affect anyone at any age, it's very important to get your x-rays and teeth cleaning done)

Having Diabetes puts patients at high risk for oral health problems.
(True, having any form of diabetes can cause a higher risk)

I don't have cavities so I cannot possibly have Gum Disease
(Myth, this does not ensure you are in the clear, it's important to brush your gums daily and FLOSS)

Childrens Dental Health Awareness Month

Did you know......

More than HALF of children between the ages of 6-8 have had at least one cavity on their baby teeth?? CRAZY!

More than HALF of the kids between the ages of 12-19 have at least one of their permanent / grown up teeth.

Cavities are actually Preventable! with the help of Fluoride based toothpaste/water and regular dental appointments.

It is NEVER too early to start, you can get your little ones used to the idea of brushing with a soft, clean cloth as early as a few weeks old.

January is National Gum Disease Awareness Month

Do you know what disease is?? NO! Well, here we go...
Gum disease has 4 stages.
1. Gingivitis - at this stage it is still reversible with proper care and maintenance.
2. Slight Periodontal - it is no longer reversible; HOWEVER, you are not a lost cause and being a bit more aggressive with treatment it is manageable.
3. Moderate Periodontal - the bacteria are starting to destroy the actual tooth bone and get into your blood stream.
4. Advanced Periodontal- there is a 90% loss of bone at this point

How do you know if this disease is affecting you?? We have some signs and risk factors for you!
1. Red, inflamed, or tender gums
2. bleeding while brushing or flossing
3. receding gums
4. bad breath and more

1. pregnancy or major hormonal changes
2. illness such as HIV or cancer
3. smoking
4. family history and more
