After careful consideration and in light of various factors Maxine’s Dance Studio will cease operation Monday June 10, 2024. We never fully recovered from the impact of Covid-19 and we believe it is time for a new chapter. We take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our dance family. As we wind down, we look forward to our last June Recital.

Below is the make up classes that are permitted in a lower division than your child is currently enrolled. This is NOT a requirement and only at the discretion of the dancers parent/guardian.

Today is the day! Summer camp begins. Here is a look at one of our week-three faculty. Lila Kushner is a contemporary dance artist, choreographer and teacher based out of Philadelphia PA.

She attended the Boston Conservatory at Berklee from 2018-2023 and earned a BFA in contemporary dance performance. At the conservatory Lila has performed works including pieces by Key’Aira Lockett, Ruka Hatua-Saar White, T. Lang, Victor Quijada, Brian Brooks, Bradley Shelver and Aszure Barton. Her training includes ballet, modern, jazz, floorwork, improvisation and contemporary partnering. Lila is committed to the craft of contemporary and post-modern dance composition. She has focused these past years on choreography that collaborates with music composers and she has had the privilege to collaborate with the Music Composition Department at Berklee School of Music. Outside of the Conservatory, Lila has choreographed works at Philadelphia Dance Theatre that have premiered at multiple Regional Dance America festivals. Her most recent piece won the Regional Dance America NorthEast Emerging Choreography Award.

Lila’s passion for the art form and desire for versatility has inspired her to enrich her training with programs including intensives at Mark Morris Dance Group, Batsheva Dance Company, Vim Vigor Dance Company, Jose Limón Dance Company and Co|Motion.

Lila is a former company member of Hybrid Motion Dance Company, under the direction of Jun Kuribayashi and Mia Dalglish, and performed standout roles in the company's most recent show 'Descent.'

Come out to National Night Out on Tuesday August 1st. 5-9pm at Vineland High School (Brewster and Chestnut) Maxine's Dance Studio is raffling $100 off tuition. Today we feature week-two teacher Elizabeth Tkaczynski Shea. Miss Elizabeth was trained at Maxine’s Studio of Dance since she was four years old. She joined the Vineland Regional Dance Company in 2002 and was made a soloist for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. She performed lead roles such as the Angel of Dreams and the Dew Drop in the Nutcracker Ballet from 2005 to 2009 and was a student teacher from September 2006 to June 2010 at Maxine’s Studio of Dance. Elizabeth performed with the VRDC in works by many choreographers, including Kimberly Chapman, Jonathan Phelps, Daniel Marshall, Bruce McCormick, and Thom Clower. She was a Marie Louise Bayuk Memorial Scholarship winner in 2009 and was one of the winners of the first annual Jonathan Phelps Memorial Scholarship in 2010. After only three and a half years at Rider University, Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Dance in December 2013. She has choreographed five pieces for the Rider Dance Ensemble including “The Last Goodbye” in 2011, “The Storm'' and “Omen” in 2012, and “The Criminal" and''Peponi" in 2013. She has choreographed Ballets for the VRDC including “Revised Reality” for 2014 & 2015, “Masama” for 2016, “Broken” for 2017, “Pulse” for 2018, and “Tethered” which was choreographed for the 2019-2020 season but due to Covid-19, was postponed and reset to be performed in 2022. Her piece “Masama” was performed in Erie, PA in May 2016 and “Pulse” was performed in Manchester, NH in May 2018 at the RDA/NE festival. For her piece "Pulse", she won the Monticello Award and was given a full scholarship to the National Choreography Intensive in Huntsville, TX which took place in July 2018. From her work in Huntsville, Elizabeth was awarded the Choreography Connection Award for outstanding choreography. She taught as part of the faculty at Maxine’s Studio of Dance and the VRDC from 2014 to 2017 and is currently a guest teacher there. Elizabeth received her Master’s degree in middle school science education from The University of Pennsylvania in May 2018. She is currently a 7th-12th grade science teacher at Bay City Academy in Bay City, MI.
