Please Keep Pets Indoors During Today’s Solar Eclipse!

One of the simplest and most effective measures to keep pets safe during the solar eclipse is to keep them indoors. This shields them from direct effects and reduces the risk of them becoming startled by sudden darkness and potentially running away or injuring themselves.

While NJ is not in the path of totality, we will still be treated to a partial solar eclipse, as long as the weather and clouds cooperate. NJ will see about 90% of the sun blocked by the moon for several minutes starting at 2:09 pm. Peak darkness is expected to occur at 3:24 pm with the eclipse ending at about 4:35 pm.

Next week is Valentine’s Day and the U.S. alone is estimated to spend over $2 billion on flowers, many of which can be seriously toxic to our cats and dogs. Before you buy that beautiful bouquet for someone with pets, stop and check that you’re not accidentally gifting them something dangerous – their pets will thank you for it!
