Remember the popular police TV show "Hill Street Blues" back in the 1980s? Every week the sergeant would end the daily briefing with “Let’s be careful out there.”
That’s our message as well. Winter is the time of year when emergency departments see more elderly patients due to falls. Whether it’s the stairs or an icy sidewalk, be careful out there.

We all face challenges as we age. They may be physical, cognitive, social, financial or personal. But one thing is for sure – life keeps changing. It’s okay to ask for help or support when you need it. You don’t need to travel this journey of life alone. As the song says, “just reach out...” and you’ll find a helping hand.
Northern & Eastern Wake Senior Centers
It’s a new year – and a new beginning. Forget those resolutions. We never keep them anyway. Let’s make resolutions that really matter. It may be a call or visit to a distant friend or relative. It may be a promise to be more caring and less critical. It may be a wish to patch up a broken relationship or heal hurt feelings. Think about what would make a difference and what’s important to your life and to those you cherish. What’s your resolution?

Wake Forest residents invited to Public Transit Plan open house July 10
The Town of Wake Forest is developing a plan for the future of public transit. Area residents are invited to attend an open house on Monday, July 10, to learn more about this initiative, view draft transit alternatives, and provide feedback.
Open house sessions will be offered on July 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Alston-Massenburg Center (AMC), 416 N. Taylor St. The AMC can be reached by the Wake Forest Loop (WFL) A and B bus routes. Riders can hop off at the Juniper Avenue bus stop at Taylor Street to reach the center.
Both sessions will have an informal, open house-style format, along with the same content, so residents may drop in anytime from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. to view displays, ask questions, and share comments.
The purpose of the Public Transit Plan is to:
1) evaluate existing service;
2) understand the viability of alternatives to fixed-route services; and
3) recommend a solution for transit expansion.

This project is supported by a grant from US Treasury as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds award totaling $14.5 million. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/TOWF_ARPA.

That was the question posed and answered by volunteers and staff in this appreciation video. Think about what your life would be like without the Center and what it has meant to you. It’s more than classes and activities. It’s a community filled with relationships, support and information with people who care.
