Interesting
.

Term Tuesday:
“Funnels to the surface” is just another way to say narrow based. It doesn’t necessarily mean narrow fronted- we think of this one for animals who may have adequate width of body or chest, but then that progression of width moves in as you head down to the ground. Creatures that “funnel to the surface” tend to stand in and with less width and get extremely narrow at the ground when set into motion. Also check their feet and the direction their toes point. These animals have a tendency to toe out to help them balance at the ground. 👍

More pics from Georgia!

Photos from Bailey's NonCents Farm's post 07/29/2024

Went on an adventure with 6 goats on Thursday to Georgia to participate in the Southern Charm Goat Show! I am terrible at pictures and I apologize. How refreshing was it to have cooler weather than we’ve had here at home, weird, but I was NOT complaining!!

Friday’s show, judged by Ricky Jorgenson, there were no big wins but my goats held their own even though there’s some tough competition. Some firsts, seconds and so on.

Saturday morning, judged by Lisa Edinger, my homegrown buck BNF Philip won Reserve Senior Champion or as you see “Next Best Grown Billy Goat”. He was put up in the drive for Grand Champion but as expected not the big win. I’m okay with that for numerous reasons. He’s in the youngest senior buck class and there’s years of muscular bucks older than him, however for being 16 months old I’m proud!

Saturday afternoon, judged by Debbie Mullins, again most of my goats held their own. She too liked Philip, but he didn’t win rosettes for that show and that’s okay!

I’m back home, unloaded and grateful for many laughs with friends and a wonderful show experience. The Epperson’s did an absolutely fantastic job putting on their first show! Until next year

Just wanted to take a second to thank each and every person for their purchases this year. I had 30 kids born this spring plus downsizing my herd to a comfortable 25 and everyone pulled through for me and allowed it to happen! I only retained 4 kids from the bunch surprisingly!! I can officially say, I’m sold out til next kidding season!!

Thank you Carol for entrusting me with these girls, I cannot wait to see what the future holds for both!

I welcomed Jorgy's Ranch Staccato to the farm today! I’m really looking forward to seeing how he matures and what the future holds for my breeding program!

Sometimes things happen. I noticed a while ago that a doe was developing an udder which reminded me of a day Hunter forgot to chain the gate to the little buck pen. Ultrasound showed a singleton and sometime overnight Black Walnut Farm Sasafras kid a single buckling. There’s 3 potential sires but since he looks just like her there won’t be any telling til a DNA test is done. Not my ideal age on kidding, however, she will be 2 in November.
