We wanted to share this moment of pure joy from our Mother's Day Tea Party. Our 4- and 5-year-olds worked so hard to create a special day for their moms! After singing songs and presenting them with some special gifts, everyone celebrated together with a dance party. This was SO much fun and will definitely become a tradition! Everyone worked up an appetite, and the students pampered their mothers by serving them a delicious meal. They took this responsibility very seriously and really wanted to make sure that everyone knew how appreciated they are.

We always say that it is our families that make our school so special, but on days like this, it is easy to see where they get their kindness from - not to mention their dance moves! We hope that everyone had a great time celebrating!

🌼Spring has officially arrived at St. Paul's Nursery School! 🌼 This is such an exciting season for our preschoolers. Mrs. Stowe (many of you know of her from the nature walks she hosts in town for students) stopped by to talk about the changing seasons and we're so grateful to have her as a part of our St. Paul's family! It's always a great day when she visits. Our preschoolers love this time of year and were excited to share their spring ideas with her. Our all-weather suits get so much use not only in the winter, but also the spring. Rainy, muddy days are filled with adventure and exploration on our playground, where so much learning through play occurs. Our afternoons are dedicated to science and nature, where we create predictions, share ideas, make mistakes, and try again. This was so important when building our leprechaun traps! Together, we tried utilizing cardboard boxes, Play-Doh, magna-tiles, Legos, netting, string, building blocks, and anything shiny or colorful to try different techniques over the first two weeks of March. We finally settled on three different traps. Some were intricate, while others were simple, but well-planned (see our video in the comments!). We thought this would finally be the year where we would catch one, but that leprechaun was simply too tricky for us! Maybe next year! ☘️

We've also had a fun visit to our school from the dentist. Thank you Smilen Dental Group for stopping by to talk about how we can make the best choices for our teeth. While our 3-year-old class had a lot of questions about visiting the dentist, our 4-year-olds were proud to share their prior knowledge about what is best for our teeth, from making good food and drink choices to brushing and flossing.

Watching our students enter as young 3-year-olds and leave as preschool graduates who are ready to tackle kindergarten with a love of learning is so incredible to witness. Year after year they continue to amaze us!

Interested in learning more about all our program has to offer? Let us know! We're always excited to share what our preschool can provide for your family!

❤️ Valentine's Day at St. Paul's Nursery School is all about love, family, and friendship!❤️

Over the past week, our students have created cards for loved ones. Our 4- and 5-year-olds then walked over to the post office to mail them. Being located in the center of town provides us the opportunity to walk to the post office, fire station, police station, library, and yoga studio. In class, we discussed our community helpers and all that they provide our town. We then discussed our role in the community - as students and helpers! Even the littlest among us can contribute to our town by holding doors, being polite, and offering kindness everywhere we go. Thank you to everyone we met on the way for reciprocating this kindness!

While every student joins us for our traditional preschool mornings (music, art, stories, large group discussion, outdoor time and, of course, lots and lots of learning through free play), most students stay with us for our extended day program. These afternoon hours are dedicated to our Science and nature program. Although this tends to be the messiest time of day, it is a student favorite! Learning about the world through hand-on activities allows each child the opportunity to try new things, make predictions and observations, and apply these ideas in their daily activities.

During our unit on animal houses, the students were fascinated by the idea that animals can build their own homes. We discussed dens, nests, burrows, hives, and dams. We then took this new knowledge out to our playground where everyone had the chance to create their own animal habitat. Some worked independently, while others worked in teams. Another fun-filled, messy day of hand-on learning!

Want to learn more about all our program has to offer? Call us at 203-269-1712 and set up a tour! There a still a few spots available for our 2023-2024 3-year-old class. We’d love to chat and see if our preschool would be a good fit for you and your family!

It’s always a fun day when Mrs. Stowe joins us! Todays visit was all about 🪱worms 🪱. We learned about the parts of the worm, how they help the earth and which of the five senses they use. After a story, song, and activity, everyone had a chance to learn about worms in a preschoolers favorite way - up close and personal! Students were invited to gently hold the worms and watch as they wriggled from one place to another.

Our extended day program offers afternoons dedicated to science and nature. After our visit with Mrs. Stowe, we all agreed that an hour wasn’t enough time. We will definitely plan on spending a whole week on worms next year!

Thank you, Mrs. Stowe for a fun, educational, and wiggly visit. We can’t wait to see what you have in mind for next time!

We’re wrapping up another year filled with fun, friendship, and learning at St. Paul’s. Having our school located in the center of town offers us the opportunity to learn about our community firsthand. While our community helpers come to our preschool to meet the 3-year-old class, our 4- and 5-year-olds take walking field trips to the police station, the fire station, the post office, and most recently, our yoga studio neighbors (a big thank you to Divinely Rooted for this amazing opportunity!)! Learning about the different people in our town allows our students to develop their own sense of self and begin thinking about what they have to offer to the world around them - kindness, joy, and smiles! If you see us out walking, be sure to beep your horn and say hello!

**There are a few spots remaining in our 3-year-old class for the fall. Please let us know if you are interested!

Spring is such a busy time of year in our classroom! Our flowers are sprouting 🌱🌻, our tadpoles and froglets are quickly growing legs 🐸, our caterpillars are ready to become chrysalises and butterflies 🐛 🦋, and most bittersweet of all, our 4-year-old class is ready to take on kindergarten. We’re so grateful to have the opportunity to watch them grow and learn while they are with us, and we’re so excited for them as they move on to the next step in learning, but saying goodbye is always so difficult. We reassure them that once you are a student at St. Paul’s, it will forever be your school and we are always thrilled when they come back to visit (or, in many cases this year, return to enroll their own children!).

Thank you to Mrs. Stowe for not only gifting our classroom with caterpillars, but for also coming in and teaching us how amazing caterpillars and butterflies truly are. We’re so lucky to have her as a part of our St. Paul’s community. We learned so many amazing facts aand can’t wait for our caterpillars to become chrysalises!

Our students were hard at work today creating traps that a leprechaun can’t resist - all of the colors of the rainbow on a path leading to a treasure trove of gold coins, rainbow discs, and pretend food (in case he gets hungry!). Teamwork, creativity, construction and giggles - learning through play is what preschool is all about!

🦷 A great, big thank you to Smilen Dental Group for coming out and teaching our students about an important community helper - the dentist! Miss Amy showed our friends what to expect when they get their teeth cleaned and how to make healthy choices for their teeth and their bodies. Who knew learning about teeth could be so much fun!?!🦷

❤️❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day, from our friends at St. Paul’s! ❤️❤️

This holiday is a favorite of ours. For our students, this special day gives us the chance to tell others how much they mean to us - not just our family members, but also our friends at school. For many, these are the first friends children choose on their own (as opposed to cousins or family friends). Watching these bonds grow stronger every day is amazing to witness! 🥰

Another busy day learning about our community! Today we walked to the Post Office to meet the people that deliver our mail (and not just on beautiful days like today!). When we got there, our students put stamps on some special cards they made and dropped them into the mail box in the post office. On our way back to school, we saw police officers, construction workers and store employees. Each one waved to us and sparked a discussion about their contributions to our community. What a great opportunity for our students to learn about the world around them! Thank you to all of you that make our town such an amazing place for children to learn and grow!

(Registration is open for the 2022-2023 school year. Reach out to schedule a tour!)

Nothing compares to the excitement and magic of the holiday season in a preschool classroom! At St. Paul's Nursery School, we celebrate all of the holidays that our families celebrate. While not everyone may celebrate Christmas, all of our students are curious about life at the North Pole, and if the students are interested, we write a letter to Santa to ask all of the questions they may have (and there are a LOT of questions!). Because of the pandemic, we were unable to go into the post office to mail our letter and meet our amazing community helpers that deliver the mail. That didn't stop our 4-year-olds! We walked through the center of town looking for signs of the season, singing our songs, dropping our letter in our mailbox and spreading joy to those we passed. We love our walking field trips because learning is about the journey, and we often learn as much during our walk as we do at our destination. This was certainly the case on this day!

What a perfect fall day for a visit from our firefighters at Station 1! Our four-year-olds take a walking field trip to the fire house, but these amazing community helpers drove the truck to us for our younger students. We were able to touch the trucks and equipment, hear the siren and ask ALL the questions about what it’s like to be a fire fighter - and there were a LOT of questions! We’re so grateful to these local heroes for all they do.

During their time with us, it is amazing to watch the bonds grow between our preschool friends. Here are two of our graduates, who met up to kick off summer vacation, while singing one of the songs from our end-of-the-year celebration!

Our four year old class took a walking field trip to our neighbor, Divinely Rooted Yoga Studio. Our location allows us the opportunity to go on so many exciting, educational walking trips. This was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last! Thank you, Miss Kellie For offering us a fun, relaxing way to wrap up a wild school year!
