Choosing an Insect Repellent for Your Child 05/23/2024

It’s that time of year again! We all want to enjoy the outdoors, and preventing bug bites is a big part of ensuring that we do! Check clothing and pets for ticks as soon as you come indoors. If possible, shower soon after coming indoors and do a full body check for ticks. Don’t forget the scalp and behind the ears.

Choosing an Insect Repellent for Your Child Read on for more information from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) about types of repellents, DEET, using repellents safely, and other ways to protect your child from insect bites.

Especially with the resurgence of some vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, it is important to stay up to date with vaccines!

Measles: What Parents Need to Know 03/20/2024

“In 2000, measles was declared eliminated from the United States. That means the disease is no longer constantly present in this country. However, travelers continue to bring measles into the United States, and it can sometimes spread and cause outbreaks among people who are not vaccinated.”
CDC WEBSITE

Measles: What Parents Need to Know Measles is caused by a virus that can spread easily through the air when an infected person sneezes or coughs and someone nearby inhales the infected droplets. It can also be transmitted by direct contact with fluids from the nose or mouth of an infected person.
