JUST RESCUED! 33 cats and 3 large dogs from a hotel room in Feasterville-Trevose!

Hotel staff notified our Humane Law Enforcement Team after discovering the animals during a routine inspection of the room. Our officers served a warrant to the owners of the animals upon arrival at the hotel. Inside were three dozen animals roaming freely in filthy crowded conditions. Urine and f***s littered the room and the strong smell of ammonia stung their eyes as they worked to remove the animals and transport them to the Lahaska Shelter.

Staff were able to comfortably house the animals and assess their medical needs. Each one was examined by our veterinarian upon arrival. One cat is being treated for pyometra, a serious infection of the uterus. These animals have been surrendered to us and will remain in our care while they recover and until they can be placed for adoption. Charges against the owners are pending.

“The large influx of animals puts a strain on busy shelters,” said Executive Director Linda Reider. “Summer is our peak season with many lost pets and kittens being brought in each week. Our staff are putting in long hours to ensure each animal is comfortable and well cared for. The community can help by adopting available pets from both shelters to make room for new arrivals.” You can aid the recovery of the rescued dogs and cats by donating to our Animal Relief Fund. Donations of cat litter (Tidy Cat non-clumping) are also needed and can be dropped off or shipped to the Lahaska or Quakertown shelter.

Hoarding cases often result in suffering for the animals who are unable to change their circumstances for long periods of time.
