We wanted to take a moment to let you know how thankful we are to have volunteers/freedom fighters like you. We wish you and your family nothing but the best this Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season.
This year has certainly been a challenge for communities of marginalized citizens. From gun violence, voter suppression, hate crimes on the rise and full-on assault on our children's education, one thing is certain; it's more important than ever to express gratitude for our loved ones. And equally important to show appreciation for those alongside us in the fight for justice.
So as the hustle and bustle of the holiday season kicks in, we encourage you to slow down and express gratitude for the gifts in your life.

Are you ready?! It’s September and some of you have already planned out your Halloween party/costume. Some of you already have Thanksgiving menu planned out and know who is making the sweet potato pie. And even more of you have Christmas planned down to penny. Now none of these things will help the future of your children, grandchildren or community. None of these things will help ensure the rights of your community and family. Let’s put that same energy to making a plan to vote and help others around you vote. “Do we settle for the world as it is or do we work for the world as it should be”

As citizens, are voice/vote is an extremely powerful tool. We challenge everyone to reach out to 10 people each day for the rest of August about voting. Some of you may be on a group chat with over 10 people right now. You can knock that out today. Ask them if they are registered and if they have a plan to vote (early, absentee or election day). Don't make it a political discussion. Just place it on their heart and mind that its time to vote.

What is political apathy and how can we combat it? Let’s break it down… “Do we settle for the world as it is or do we work for the world as it should be”

People don’t fight to take things from you that are not valuable. Ever been to someone’s house playing uno and they change the rules because they are winning? No me either. Your vote (voice) is one of the most powerful tools a citizen has in this country. Take those tools and put them together in a community and you can build something beautiful. Get out and vote. Help others vote. “Do we settle for the world as it is or do we work for the world as it should be”
Black August is an acknowledgment and commemoration of the countless organizers, activists, and freedom fighters who sacrificed their freedom and lives in the struggle for Black liberation.
Building Black power in the United States is a long-term project—245 years to date. From enslaved Africans to today’s Black organizers in defense of Black lives, Black people have faithfully organized and challenged white supremacists’ conditions of domination and assimilation. In doing so, we advance our efforts toward liberation and self-determination for Black communities. And, we lose folks along the way. Countless named and unnamed freedom fighters have been murdered, exiled, or unjustly persecuted by the state for their beliefs and disappeared into cages, never to be seen again. We honor their sacrifices and express appreciation for their contributions.
