Year after year, this event is a chance for people to escape the crowds and explore the backroads of Rappahannock County and raise critically needed funds for a very important cause — all proceeds from the ride benefit the Fauquier Free Clinic.

It’s important to pay attention to your body. Many women report small signs before being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Some symptoms to watch for include:
📌 Appetite changes: Decreased appetite or feeling full after eating a small amount
📌 Bloating: A frequently swollen or bloated tummy
📌 Abdominal discomfort
📌 Urinary symptoms: A frequent or urgent need to urinate

Meet Dr. Lee! Please join us in welcoming our newest addition to the clinic, part-time dentist Dr. Jasmine Lee.

Dr. Lee brings valuable experience from her previous role at the Augusta Regional Dental Community Clinic, where she served for the past two years. She also speaks Spanish and Korean, enabling her to connect with a broader patient base at our free clinic. "I am so excited to get to know the Fauquier and Rappahannock area and look forward to meeting the team and working together to provide care for this community," says Dr. Lee. "Coming from an immigrant family and growing up without health insurance, I felt a strong calling to work with underserved communities. After dental school, I intentionally sought out a free clinic where I could make a difference."

The best way to improve your social health is to find purpose in life and give back to others. We asked our volunteers what their time at the clinic has meant to them and this is what Linda Bueno shared…

"For me, volunteering has given me an opportunity to continue to practice and expand my knowledge of nursing while giving back to the community I live in. I enjoy using my skill set to help others and working with the amazing staff and patients at the clinic."

There are lots of reasons not to smoke, and having a healthy mouth is one of them. To***co and excessive alcohol use can lead to oral cancer and other periodontal diseases. We want you healthy and to keep that great smile.

This week, our team was hard at work not just in patient care, but also in expanding our knowledge and skills.

🦷 On Tuesday, our dental team participated in an in-service training with Implant Direct, diving deep into the latest equipment and techniques to enhance the care we provide to our patients.

💙 Yesterday, we paused our operations to allow our entire clinic team to complete Mental Health First Aid training, hosted by Mental Health Association of Fauquier County. This crucial training we undertake every two years.

At Fauquier Free Clinic, we believe that continuous learning and teaching are the cornerstones of providing exceptional care.

Please note that the clinic will be closed today, Wednesday, August 14, for staff training. We're dedicating the day to learning Mental Health First Aid to better serve our community.

We bid a heartfelt farewell to our intern Ashley Lauritzen, who has been an invaluable asset to our Mental Health Clinic this summer. Her dedication and hard work have truly made a difference!

During her time with us, Ashley:
🔵 Assisted in developing and implementing the mental health group therapy interest survey
🔵 Entered patient responses for our social determinants of health survey
🔵 Conducted patient outreach to provide local resources, helping to mitigate barriers to health and wellness

🌟 Last week, we said goodbye to our amazing PATH Foundation intern, Emily Penatzer! 🌟

During her internship, Emily joined our Community Health Worker, Zoila Cortes, at several community events and conducted important outreach. She worked on an internal community needs assessment for the clinic, drafted surveys to gauge patient interest in group therapy, and updated our internal communications to better advertise community resources.

We are so appreciative of Emily's efforts this summer. Thank you, Emily, for your dedication and hard work. Have a great school year ahead! 🎓📚

Did you know? Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is good for your dental health.

When you are well hydrated it is easier on your mouth when eating or drinking anything else. Water also helps prevent cavities from forming because saliva contains minerals that promote remineralization (the process by which tooth enamel repairs itself). So, drink up!

Today, they surprised our staff and volunteers with a delicious catered lunch from Blue Pig BBQ 🐷. We are always grateful for their tremendous talent our patients get to experience with them 🦷 and their constant generosity for our clinic.
