Nearly Nomadic Photography

Probably my last time driving Monarch Pass until the spring. An incredible place to watch the sunrise, one of my favorite places in Colorado.

The smallest finds are my favorite part of my chaotic life on the road.

First attempt of astrophotography while in Big Bend National Park not too long ago. Still a ways to go but the clear skies out there are absolutely incredible.

Quick peek at some of this week’s Missouri sessions. Always love getting to head back to Fort Leonard Wood to capture some familiar faces.

Had the opportunity to shoot some really great locations out in Colorado this past week. Hartman Rocks was quite the drive up for some awesome overlooks and hiking along the way.

🌑 Solar Eclipse 2024 🌑

Totality out in Saint Marys, Ohio at Grand Lake

After reading extensively for a few months on how to best capture the eclipse, gear needed, and the risks to my vision I opted to only take a few quick shots during totality and leave the rest to photographers with healthier vision than me. Decided to leave my longest lens at home so I would not be tempted to try anything crazy, and pretty stoked with what the 70-200mm got me. Absolutely worth the drive, and putting the camera down to fully appreciate those few minutes.

🦬 Wind Cave National Park 🦬⛰️

My personal favorite park to photograph bison. Worth the crazy 5° weather and snowy drive up north into South Dakota. Easy to forget how aggressive they can be when I catch them with their tongues out almost constantly.

All of these were taken from a significant distance with a telephoto lens and many from the safety of my car.

Found film, military aviation. 🎞️

Some of my favorite film finds are old military slides, especially aviation.

35mm Kodachrome slides scanned in on an OpticFilm 8200i and processed with SilverFast 9.

From chasing lizards, taking my time with tortoises, to carefully capturing bison. Animals might be one of my favorite parts of traveling. Nothing beats finally finding the frogs I heard for several miles on a hike, or seeing such big personalities in the smallest wildlife.
