COMMAND HISTORY
With the seat of government in Washington and the presence of nearby Arlington National Cemetery and the Washington Navy Yard, it was clear to Navy leadership that there would always be special events, high-visibility funerals, and state funerals necessitating the participation of Sailors. The Washington Navy Yard held the largest number of Sailors of any command within the nation
We are honored to be able to perform at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
On July 26th, we had a graduation ceremony for eight Sailors. Congrats to our newest Guardsmen.

On May 30th, The Ceremonial Guard conducted a retirement ceremony Navy Diver Master Chief Joshua Dumke. Fair winds and following seas Master Chief!

The Ceremonial Guard participated in the Pentagon Bring A Child To Work Day 2024 with this years theme being, "Inspire 2 Aspire" this instills a mindset that children can choose their own future. Thank you Bernardo Fuller for this picture.

On April 19th, we conducted a Full Honors funeral at the Naval Academy for ADM Leighton W. Smith JR. fair winds and following seas.

On April 12th, the Drill Team performed for the Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a national organization that transports American Veterans to Washington DC to honor and celebrate them for their service.

On March 1st, the Drill Team performed for the NJROTC students at Cortez High School in honor of Phoenix Navy Week!

On February 29th, Phoenix Navy Week continued with Drill Team doing a performance for the students at Chandler High School. They also went to Apollo High School to teach their NJROTC drill and color guard techniques.

On February 28th, the Drill Team performed at two schools in the Phoenix Area on the Native American Reservations. They performed and talked to the students at St Peter Indian Mission Catholic School and Skyline Gila River High School.

On February 27th, the Drill Team performed at the Phoenix Navy Week Proclamation Ceremony at the USS Arizona Memorial Gardens.
Later in the day they volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children Organization and packed bags of rice for starving children around the world.

On February 26th, the drill team kicked off Phoenix Navy Week by visiting the Future for Kids program and interacting with the students. They also performed at the USS Arizona Legacy Foundation Launch.

Every Navy Week the Guard does performances at high schools as part of the Navy’s outreach program. During Daytona week the drill team performed at Flagler Palm Coast High School. and also talked about the Navy with the students.
They also volunteered at the NASCAR Foundation Speediatrics Fun Day Festival.

On February 14th, the Drill Team performed at the Jackie Robinson Ball Park in Daytona!

As part of Daytona Week, the Drill team performed at Daytona State College and also had the opportunity to be on Fox 35 Orlando news.

On February 12th, the Drill Team kicked off Daytona Navy Week with a visit to Deland High School and Pace Center School for Girls. They performed their exhibition drill and talked about the Navy with the students!

On February 11th, The Joint Armed Forces Color Guard (JAFCG) and drummers from The U.S. Navy Band presented the colors at Super Bowl LVIII. While in Las Vegas the JAFCG also visited two local JROTC programs, and visited the NFL Experience.
SN Emmanuel Gambrell represented the Navy and held the Navy Colors.

On February 16th, The Guard was honored to host LCDR Furnari’s family. LCDR Furnari was stationed at the Guard twice! He was the Officer In Charge in 1946 and 1953. In honor of his legacy our barracks and chow hall are named after him. The family toured the headquarters and watch several demonstrations.

Congratulations to CN Peters Liam on earning his Fulls qualification in the Casket Bearers Platoon. In Casket Bearer platoon, it takes significant time and dedication to become fully qualified. Because of that, they miss out on being recognized at our regular award ceremonies.
