DDOT and Bowser: Cut out the Games with Circulator! 09/14/2024

Please share.
The Standards in DC's governing are too low for far too many folks who are struggling to survive. !💚

Friend,

I wrote a letter for the Action Network letter campaign: DDOT and Bowser: Cut out the Games with Circulator!.

In her budget for Fiscal Year 2025, Mayor Bowser unveiled a proposal to cut D.C. Circulator entirely. However, despite promises that service, workers, and infrastructure would be transferred over to WMATA, no plans have been made public. To make matters worse, DDOT and the administration accelerated the timeline for closing down the DC Circulator. Thousands of D.C. residents, workers, and families have counted on reliable service downtown to navigate our great city. Similarly, while Local 689 Circulator workers welcome the opportunity to join WMATA, they are now instead being threatened with losing their jobs and all the years they worked for proper and dignified compensation. Mayor Bowser, DDOT must do right by all these riders and workers!

Advocates push D.C. to make landlords obey the rules. Many buildings have documented proof from tenants of poor living conditions and landlords violating the D.C. Tenant Bill of Rights.
