In many rural areas in Japan, women are given less opportunities and less encouragement to become leaders and to drive new social initiatives. Japan Institute for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (JSIE) is trying to change this.

They bring inspirational programs to women, including courses with advice from sake and robotics experts in stunning settings. They recently hosted a program at the beautiful Shinshu Zenko-ji Yakuoin temple in Nagano!

“It is amazing to see how, once they experience this collaborative environment, they start thinking about new possibilities,” said their President Hiromi Murakami.

Did you know Black-led nonprofits STILL receive only 1-2% of all community foundation funding? We are working to change this reality.

Our nonprofit partner Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop hosts a Prison Book Club that uses books and writing for healing and mental health, helping individuals stay connected to a world beyond incarceration. Your support allows members to share their experiences, connect with diverse communities, and express themselves through the transformative power of reading and writing.

This year alone, Free Minds has hosted 60 community-building events, including a workshop with Latin American Youth Center. Students engaged in poetry, shared feedback and discovered a newfound appreciation for creative expression. As Antoine beautifully expressed in his poem "Where I Belong," poetry has the power to connect and heal.

Thank you for being part of their successful programs. Together with the BackBlack Impact Fund, GlobalGiving has been awarded $10,000 to encourage BackBlack Campaign donations.

For Hilda, soccer isn't just a sport—it's a lifeline. Joining HODI girls' soccer program has given her the confidence to resist child marriage and stay in school, encouraging her to pursue her dreams.

HODI is working with girls in Kenya to help them overcome female ge***al mutilation (FGM), beading, and child marriages.

In Kenya 26 out of every 100 girls are married before they're 18 years old. These girls are not given basic rights to education and they are more likely to drop out of school to become child mothers. HODI uses education and soccer to help young girls and women build their confidence and decision-making to support themselves and their families.

This incredible program is led by Fatuma, a trailblazing nonprofit leader in northern Kenya. She says, “It is not an easy journey, but it takes a team to win a game.” Together, they are breaking the silence on issues affecting millions of girls.

Your contributions can change the game. Go for good and donate today to help support more girls like Hilda. https://bit.ly/3LXY0FQ

Mann Deshi Foundation is supporting rural girls in India by providing nutrition, education, and athletics to help them face their future regardless of what obstacles stand in their way.

In rural areas of India only a few schools provide athletic facilities, mentorship, and health programs. This restricts children's social and mental development, with girls being especially vulnerable. Mann Deshi Foundation is using its mentorship and training facilities to help girls improve their skillsets and expand their minds.

Your contributions support various programs including Mann Deshi Champions. This program offers training, financial assistance, and fosters physical health and leadership qualities.

Notably, girls' participation has surged, challenging traditional gender roles in India. In June, time trials boosted athletes' confidence. A May summer camp featured activities like swimming, football, and volleyball, teaching new skills. Campaigns in villages highlight sports' importance, encouraging participation in the Championship program.

In the community of Machar Colony, Pakistan, children often lack a safe space to simply be children. Imkaan Welfare Organization (Khel) is changing that by providing a recreational facility dedicated to fostering both physical and mental development.

Through the power of sports, Khel offers a secure program that nurtures children's mental health and promotes their physical well-being. The impact of this initiative was proudly showcased at the recent Sindh/National Games in Karachi, where members of the gymnastics team, many from challenging backgrounds, won gold medals for their outstanding performances. 🤸

These young athletes have overcome numerous obstacles to pursue their passion for gymnastics, proving that with the right support (and sport), dreams can indeed come true.

Every year, thousands of individuals, many of whom can't swim, embark on a perilous journey by sea, seeking safety and a brighter future. The crossing from Turkey to Greece is often filled with fear and uncertainty, as refugees brave the ocean in search of hope. 🏊

To help those who have experienced trauma from these journeys, Yoga and Sport With Refugees (YSR) offers a trauma-sensitive learn-to-swim program. This initiative not only promotes safety and mental and physical well-being, but also fosters a peaceful relationship with water. It's a crucial step in overcoming the fear and trauma associated with these crossings.

In partnership with the Yusra Mardini Foundation (YMF), this program goes beyond swimming lessons. It aims to bridge cultural divides, promote inclusivity, and advocate for the rights of displaced people. Together, they embody the spirit of being !

James, a young athlete from Minna, Nigeria, LOVES basketball. But he lives in a region where many kids lack basic school supplies and access to sports facilities. 🏀

When Timeout4Africa gave James a new pair of shoes, he was so excited that the very next day, he brought a friend to introduce him to basketball, eager to share the joy and opportunities the sport brings.

In Northern Nigeria, where resources are scarce, sports serve as a crucial tool for inspiring children to stay in school and pursue their goals. Timeout4Africa is dedicated to making this possible, one game, and one pair of shoes at a time.

Asociacion Grupo de Trabajo Redes defends the rights of people who face discrimination due to poverty, age, gender, color, language, or culture.

Today’s recipe, Causa Lima, comes all the way from Peru. This recipe was shared by Asociación Grupo de Trabajo Redes - AGTR and was prepared for a group of volunteers who did not speak Spanish. They were invited to participate in one of AGTR’s cooking classes and were able to share and communicate in another way—through the kitchen. 🇵🇪

Ágata Zumaeta Figueroa, project leader for Asociacion Grupo de Trabajo Redes shared:

“This stew is literally a dish with history. According to data collected, its origin dates from the year 1820, precisely during the famous Liberation Expedition of Peru – led by General José de San Martín – which had the objective of making Peru independent and liberating it from the Spanish regime.

In order to support the Peruvian soldiers who got involved in the confrontation, the women began to organize to collect supplies, use them to prepare dishes that were later sold. That profit was invested in the purchase of medicines, clothing, and food for the men of war.

The potato was the most used input. Boiled, pressed and seasoned with a little salt and yellow pepper, it was sold in the squares under the motto: ‘For the cause’ or ‘For the Lima cause,’ in reference to the struggle that was taking place at that time.”
