Black Girls Hack was created to share knowledge and resources to help black girls and women breakthrough barriers to careers in information security and cyber security.
A DDoS or distributed denial of service attack is one of the most known cybersecurity attacks. While the example above isn't too serious, this attack can severely disrupt a company's operations. Companies can use various techniques such as rate-limiting, traffic scrubbing, and load balancing to prevent DDoS attacks. Additionally, they can implement firewall rules, intrusion prevention systems, and anti-DDoS services to help mitigate the attack.
Studying Black American history is essential for understanding the cultural, political, and economic impact Black Americans have had on the United States.
It is important to recognize the struggles, resilience, and accomplishments of Black Americans and their contributions to the nation. From the transatlantic slave trade to the civil rights movement and beyond, understanding Black American history helps us to understand the present social and political climate. Moreover, it helps us to recognize the importance of diversity and the need for continued efforts to create an equitable society.
Over the course of this month, BGH will be showing influential Black Americans who have and are making a positive impact in technology.

As the cybersecurity skills gap continues to widen, I would like to share a survey looking deeper into the cybersecurity training and education landscape. Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies master’s candidate, Jasmine Newby, has been working very closely with her professors and advisors to successfully conduct the research necessary to better understand the landscape of the industry. The responses to this survey remain anonymous, confidential, and will not be shared with anyone other than Jasmine, her professor, her and capstone advisor. If you have a moment, visit the link below to complete the survey, which should only take 2-3 minutes. Thanks in advance for your time and commitment supporting the cybersecurity industry.
