Are you interested in becoming a professional interpreter? Consider attending our 2023 Community Interpreter Training (CIT) to be held August 21-25 in Washington, D.C. During this 40-hour training, you will learn language conversion, meaning, positioning, modes, roles of the interpreter, ethics, and more. Plus, there will be many opportunities for in-depth practice appropriate to different community settings such as schools, government, and therapy. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to work for MCS making a base pay of $45 per hour. Fees include $500 tuition plus a $108 registration fee. Meet Selam, one of our featured speakers tomorrow! (Do you have your tickets yet??)

Selamawit Legesse is a linguist who focuses in Amharic and Tigrinya interpretation and translation. She has more than ten years of legal, medical and community interpretation. As a legal interpreter, she works in DC Superior, Virginia and Maryland courts. She has written and edited articles in different local newspapers and magazines. She has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from University of Mary Washington and Master's Degree in International Trade and Policy from George Mason University.
