On your next trip to Scotland, make sure you try one of these dishes! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Festy c**k (get your mind out of the gutter): usually eaten to commemorate shrove Tuesday, these oat pancakes are pressed and shaped into a bird shape 🐓

Rumbledethumps: a mashup of potatoes, onions and cabbage 🧅

Clapshot: another mash of sweet turnips and potatoes with chives and butter 🥔

Crappit Heid: like haggis but inside a fish head. I’ll stop the description there 🐟

Clootie Dumpling: a traditional Scottish boiled pudding, sometimes served with a whiskey sauce🚰

Tipsy Laird: no, this isn’t just our founder when she’s had a little too much to drink. This dessert, often served at the end of a Burns night, is a Scottish take on a trifle, with raspberries and whiskey. 🥃

Haggis: the dish that needs no introduction, it’s the national dish of Scotland and...an acquired taste if we do say so ourselves...🍽️

Which of these- or other Scottish dish- sounds the best to you? Tell us in the comments! 💙🤍

🏠Vacation rentals come with many perks - extra space for larger families, full kitchens, private outdoor space, etc. But leaving your home-away-from-home often requires a bit more attention before you check out. While no two rentals have the exact same policies, here are a few common things to pay attention to regarding your check-out conditions:

🧺 Laundry, specifically used towels and linens
🥛What to do with leftover fridge, freezer, and pantry items.
🏓 Outdoor equipment and areas (pool, sports equipment, barbeques, etc) being left in their original condition
🍽️ Dishes - washed and put away, washed, or just left in the sink
🌡️ Most places ask that the home temperature is reset/put at an energy saving level before guests leave.

Another important step is to take inventory of anything that is broken or needs attention from the property owner! Always be sure to keep communication respectful and be factual in your reporting.

What else would you add? Tell us in the comments below and save this for future reference!

Mark your calendars! 🗓️ On Monday, April 8th, portions of the U.S. will experience a total solar eclipse and we’re already planning “Eclipse Trips” for some of our clients! Swipe to read more about this unique travel experience.

Our recommendations for the best place to view totality? We’re partial to the Hill Country of Texas 🤠 (stay tuned for more on this great destination in the coming weeks) and upstate New York, especially around Niagara Falls 💦 (see our saved highlight on our favorite things to do in that region).

As always, we have to remind you that it’s never a good idea to stare directly at the sun 😎- make sure you pick up eclipse glasses or a viewer to see this historic event!

Are you traveling to see the total solar eclipse? Tell us about it in the comments! If you’re considering it, reach out to WanderWell Travelers today- we would love to chat.

2. Canyon Outfitters is Sedona’s premier outdoor store. Not only can you get great hiking and camping gear there, but you also will be supporting the conservation of Sedona and the planet, as they are members of the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund and the fund.

3. The Coffee Pot. This no-frills but reliable family friendly restaurant has made it a point to help the homeless population by providing meals every Thanksgiving. A worthy establishment to support!

4. Twice Nice Thriftique, part of , helps to provide life-saving support and services to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

5. The Chai Spot supports women and children’s educational and vocational opportunities in Pakistan by donating 50% of their proceeds. Come for the hot butter chai, stay for the cozy vibes.

🚨If you use AirBnB for travel, you’re going to want to check this out 👀

🏙️ Short-term rental companies such as AirBnB are under fire in many areas - the most recent and notable enforcement coming to NYC. With an estimated closing of over 70% of NYC AirBnB listings, the landscape of travel accommodation is changing once again (note that these changes in NYC essentially makes AirBnB stays for families larger than 2 impossible).

🌏 Many cities across the world have enacted laws to restrict or ban the operations of short-term rentals. This is a complex issue with compelling arguments on both sides! As a traveler, it’s important to be aware of how these laws may affect your ability to choose certain lodging types.

📍 Need help navigating this and finding legit accommodations? It’s one of the services we provide! Save this post for future reference.

Today we remember. 🤍

On July 4, 2022, as we traced the path of my husband’s grandfather in WW2 (more to come about this later this week) we came upon the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in the rolling hills where Belgium and The Netherlands and Germany meet. A sobering site, I wept and wept as we walked through the rows and rows of graves of 18, 19, 25, 30 year olds, all who sacrificed their lives in the campaign to defeat a regime of tyranny and atrocity eating up Europe.

War is terrible and it is costly. It’s also something our family has chosen to talk about openly with our children, and we’ve used our travel to enrich and deepen those conversations. It is HARD, but our family believes it’s important.

Today I am especially remembering these men- (boys, really) who gave all for the good of us. Rest in peace.
