2023 State of Downtown
Yesterday marked the official release of our 2023 #StateofDowntown report, highlighting Downtown D.C.'s current strengths, opportunities, and challenges as a district. Coinciding with the release of the report, we held our annual State of Downtown Forum, featuring inspiring speeches and two panels of prominent figures in the D.C. area. We gained unique insights and had the chance to collectively celebrate huge victories for the city, like Monumental Sports & Entertainment staying in D.C. and the violent crime rate being down by 50% compared to the same time last year, thanks to the impactful work by Chief Pamela Smith and the DC Police Department. Our President and CEO, Gerren Price moderated both panels, raising thought-provoking questions to panelists about where D.C. can improve moving forward. A special thank you to Gerren, our speakers, and panelists for being a part of the Forum, in addition to Mayor Bowser, who delivered closing remarks and echoed the optimism in the room surrounding how we, as a city, can do it all.
