It's a Real Live Grid: final week to view our "AAPI in DC" installation- a special collaboration w/the folk/anthropological Masters Sojin & Michelle & Co. ( ). Then join us this Sunday 10/3 5-8pm for a Closing Party! The installation is a collection of snapshots of AAPI lives from the neighborhoods & streets you traverse daily, dating back to 1950s (the Sun Restaurant actually dates back to 1929 - Reveler's Hour resides there now), reflections of a then bustling Chinatown, the 1960s Ambassador Theater in AdMo where Jimi Hendrix famously played...and ofc the FASHION (which inspired the installation🌀)❤️ *** And this AAPI woman wants to thank everyone who offered kind words and support these last few months. ✌🏼🙏🏼❤️A belated thank you to and NBC News4 for interviewing me re: my AAPI hate crime. See links below for their well-rounded coverage of AAPI lives in the DMV below:

*WARNING: this video contains an assault, racism, violent behavior. It may be triggering for some* DC Community & Friends of Meeps, this is tough and personal but I need your help. I am the Asian-American Woman sole-proprietor of this shop. This past Friday at 5:41pm, this neighborhood Man entered my shop to “drop off a flyer for a pop-up.” (I did not take a flyer) After I identified him as a repeat anti-masker who does not respect shop rules (among other disrespectful/racist/misogynistic incidents) I requested he leave the shop and quickly escorted him to the door. He lingered, suddenly turning violent and racist calling me “Asian Terrorist”, some ugly racist things about my appearance, then he spat on me as he rode off on his bicycle. Within 90secs while in my own shop, he did all he could to victimize me with hate speech, close in on my personal space, and make me feel terrorized. I felt/feel he was just short of causing me physical harm. Thankfully he was aware of the other customer in the shop who shot this video. Only physical contact was his saliva hitting my neck/upper chest. You cannot identify his face in this video but trust that I know it. I need a name so I can hold him accountable and keep him away from the shop. If you recognize this person, please do Call 202-265-6546 or DM the shop. You can also email me at [email protected]. We will keep your identity confidential. Let’s keep our community safe and try and remind ourselves to check in on one another in these trying times. Peace, Love and Thanks , Cathy Chung
