TODAY! Join us as we discuss how to communicate with more confidence - no preparation is required!

"Instead of doubting yourself, instead of justifying and explaining away your successes, instead of apologizing, I want you to thank yourself." - Professor Maja Jovanovic

02/23/2021

"100% of the time, when I interrupt another woman and I say, 'Why did you just apologize for that?' First, she says sorry for saying sorry. But, what she then says is, 'I don't even know.' Because it has become our habitual way of communicating, and we need to stop killing our confidence." - Professor Maja Jovanovic

Want to learn how to communicate more effectively? Join NDWC DC tomorrow for our discussion of Professor Jovanoic's TEDx talk! There is no need to watch the talk in advance, as we'll kick off this TED Circle discussion by watching the video together before moving into a facilitated discussion.

No preparation is required - just tune in next Wednesday!

"How can we switch out all this apologetic lingo for something that's more confidence-inducing? The next time somebody bumps into you, you could say 'Go ahead,' 'Your turn,' or 'After you.' You don't have to insert an apology."

Maja Jovanovic is a professor who, after noticing women presenting at a conference tended to discount their own expertise when men did not, asked her research assistants to keep track of everything they apologized for in the past month. The women working with her responded with these examples and more. Join NDWC to discuss Prof. Jovanovic's TEDx talk - no preparation required!
