The Mary’s Center team sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Father Eugene Brake, the founder of and a tireless advocate in the D.C. area. We know his legacy will live on through the impact of CAFB and his organization will continue to help thousands of families in our community.
Last month, we partnered with DC Developmental Disabilities Council to host a roundtable conversation about navigating the healthcare system while living with a disability. We identifed some barriers & brainstormed solutions & ways to improve our programs & services. Thank you for helping Mary's Center grow & evolve!
Today, we want to highlight the work of interns like Emma who is joining us this summer from The Karel Fellowship. Emma is supporting the public interest efforts of our Marketing & Communications team, reaching new audiences and raising awareness about our many programs and services. Last week, members of our staff joined together for a service day at the Capital Area Food Bank Over 3 hours, our team packed 423 boxes of food for low income senior residents in DC. We are grateful to be able to partner with organization working to support the community with essential needs like groceries!
Earlier in July, Mary’s Center received a generous donation of brand new Janie and Jack baby clothes, toys, diapers, & feeding supplies from The Napkin Network to be distributed to the mothers & infants we serve in the coming weeks. Thank you so much to Lindsay Gill, founder of the Napkin Network for believing in Mary’s Center’s mission and contributing supplies that will uplift our families.

Our Healthy Start program focuses on decreasing disparities in maternal & infant health outcomes by connecting expectant families with Family Support Workers, Doulas, and additional resources to partner in their journey. Our Healthy Start team receives special training through the Perinatal Mental Health team, using the Mom & Baby curriculum to support participants experiencing perinatal-related anxiety, & improving BIPOC health outcomes.
The Bridge Access Program removes patient barriers to COVID-19 vaccines. There is no enrollment process for eligible adults to get no-cost COVID-19 vaccines. Our providers will help determine eligibility. Ask your doctor about this program today!

Mary’s Center welcomed 20 Deloitte volunteers on Friday, June 7th to our Adams Morgan location for a site beautification project as a part of National Impact Day. Volunteers created a butterfly garden for the Pre-K students in our partner Briya Public Charter School and spread 70+ bags of mulch around our clinic campus to ensure the many participants we see every day walk up to a welcoming beautiful clinic!
