The Sambhali Project has been an invisible germinating seed since I arrived in the United States and the founding of Mirasa.
🥰 I was at on a Spring weekend in April, when my son’s former & favorite pediatrician, also a Mirasa customer for 10+ years, stopped by to shop as usual. However, this time she also had a special experience to share- her recent visit to India and her time - a non-profit organization that helps empower and educate women and children in Rajasthan, Northern India.
✨ I felt something instantly. I was just a few days away from leaving for The Women’s silent retreat (Vipassana) at (IMS) and was consumed by settling the home life & Mirasa before heading out into an eight day journey of noble silence. But my meeting with Dr. Hamburger lingered.
🌳During the Women’s Retreat at IMS, I spent a lot of time in the woods, sensing and absorbing the nature of trees - their interconnectedness, resilience and lineage. On a foggy evening, during walking meditation I planted the seed while in silent conversation with one of the trees. This was an intention but I could almost sense it germinate and grow into a plant and maybe someday into a tree.
🌱And now, this seed is being watered to life. I am heading to India in a couple weeks and we will be volunteering with . We will spend a week in both rural Setrawa and in the city of Jodhpur to visit their empowerment centers, boarding homes, learning centers and doorstep projects. We will close our time there with an art workshop with 35 girls ages 10-19Yrs.
🙏🏽❤️If you wish to contribute to this effort please shop and share cause link in profile. Thank you for your continued support. We are here because of you!

Our Story
What is Mirasa?
In Hindi, the word mirasa means heritage. Taking its cue from the heritage of textile designer and Mirasa founder Aashumi Shah, Mirasa products incorporate the colors of the Indian landscape and traditional textile practices.
The Story:
Aashumi graduated with a Summa Cum Laude in Textile & Surface Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) NY in 2004. When her niece, Atia, turned one, she made some soft toys with tactile elements to stimulate Atia’s sense of imagination and play. The toys were bundled into a cloth bag that Atia could easily carry around with her. Watching her play with these toys inspired Aashumi to produce Mirasa Design’s My Fun line for infants and toddlers.
Socially Conscious:
Mirasa Design is truly a product of Aashumi’s heritage, which believes firmly in giving back what was given to you. As a result of Aashumi’s passion for giving back, a portion of the proceeds from all purchases will go to Room to Read.
