It is always an honor to work so closely with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Over many years, we have formed a deeply meaningful relationship with the clubs throughout our regions. Having the opportunity to give back to the young people of our local communities, most recently with the Backpack Drive, is just one way we can exemplify our core value of youth development.

Rise by Bozzuto held our third annual Backpack School Supply Drive supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America during the month of July. This company-wide initiative collected and packed more than 2,800 backpacks with school essentials for children nationwide, exceeding our donation goal. Thanks to our associates, residents and Community Champions, we have the privilege to support our local youth in reaching their fullest potential.

Our incredible associates are redefining sanctuary on the West Coast. From Los Angeles to San Francisco to Seattle, we are committed to delivering an extraordinary living experience for our residents.

Hey everyone - Meet our August Pet of the Month, Ginger!

Ginger is a 3.5 year old rescue pittie mix that lives on the 4th floor. Her "pawrent" rescued her from Petey & Furends in January 2022.

She wants to be everyone’s best friend and would spend the whole day cuddling with her favorite humans on the couch if she could. Ginger is a regular at Atlas, the Pretzel Bakery outdoor patio, and Lincoln Park. She also loves wrestling play dates with her neighbor and bestie Gnocchi!

Ginger is famously known for her outstanding Scooby Doo ears, ginger colored fur, and cute snorts. If you see her around the building, she promises to try and say hello.

The endless enthusiasm and hard work of our 2024 Bozzuto interns has left us in awe. Through their passion for learning, they have built upon our mission and contributed to the culture of kindness that we foster at Bozzuto. Bozzuto is proud to announce that our President and CEO, Toby Bozzuto, has assumed the role of Chair of Colgate University’s Board of Trustees. A 1996 graduate, Toby joined the board in 2016, serving on multiple committees, including as the Chair of the University Resources Committee. This month, Bozzuto’s summer interns had the opportunity to give back to their local communities during our annual Rise by Bozzuto intern volunteer outing. Across the country, they tended to community gardens, worked in food banks and helped at local Boys and Girls Clubs. We’re grateful our interns had the opportunity to learn more about our corporate social responsibility efforts while giving back to the communities we serve.

Bozzuto's communities were filled with laughter and smiles during our second annual Tiny Tykes Takeover. Hosted by our employee resource group, Parents and Caregivers Together (PACT), this event gave associates the opportunity to make lasting memories with their little ones with fun activities and a delightful brunch. Thank you to PACT for organizing such a meaningful event.

Our Build-A-Backpack Drive in partnership with has offcially concluded! Thanks to all of our wonderful residents and vendors for contributing, as we were able to collect over 50 backpacks! We love to see what The Lockwood community can achieve together!

We are incredibly proud to announce that three leaders across Bozzuto were honored at Globe St.’s Women of Influence Awards this week. We extend our congratulations to Dawn Beckles, Senior Vice President of Accounting and Financial Services for Bozzuto Management (Corporate Real Estate Executive honor), Chintimini Keith, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications (Marketing/Communications Professional honor) and Caroline Sullivan, Director of Business Development for Bozzuto Construction (Rising Star honor). The Women of Influence Awards recognize women who are making a significant impact in the real estate industry. With the tremendous kindness shown by our associates and residents, Rise by Bozzuto has rallied more than 245 properties and our corporate offices to participate in our third annual Backpack and School Supply Drive. As we wrap up the drives next week, we look forward to 15 regions participating in community packing events. President and CEO Toby Bozzuto was honored as a guest lecturer for Harvard University’s Advanced Management Development Program. He explained to a packed room of engaged students that it is a moral imperative for businesses to give back to the world, and to operate in a manner that is highly ethical, kind and compassionate. He went on to describe his aspirations for Bozzuto to be a paradigm of civility, which we call a culture of kindness.

Toby concluded his remarks by emphasizing, “Simply put, there is a social benefit for us to be in business. Companies have an obligation to use their success to make an impact on the communities we serve.”

If you haven’t encountered our amazing Maintenance Manager yet, here’s Darren. We’re lucky to have him, as he was recently nominated as one of Bozzuto’s 2024 Rising Stars! When he’s not overseeing Lockwood’s maintenance needs, you may find him skateboarding around DC with his family or playing the drums with various bands. He also enjoys working out and trying all new healthy foods, too!

With great pleasure, we'd like to introduce July's Pet of the Month... Mango!

She's also known as Mango Pie, Manguito Manatee, and stonky baby. Mango’s new to the city, so she’s looking for new puppy friends with lots of energy like her and a love for zooming around! Her likes include long family walks, sun bathing, meeting new puppies, being cuddled and babied, belly rubs, and being scratched on her back and head with long nails. She only has a few dislikes, but that definitely includes when we stay up past her bedtime (she refuses go to bed alone, and will stare judgmentally until we go to bed). Her hobbies include running at the park with her puppy friends, hiding her treats around the house so well that even she can’t find them until a month later, and taking long naps all bageled up. She can sometimes be shy at first with new people, but once she loves you, she loves you with her whole heart!

As Pride month wraps up, we would like to thank our employee resource group LIFT for hosting celebratory and inclusive events throughout the month. From a D.C. Pride event to a book club partnering with Women@Bozzuto, each event was hosted to spread love throughout Bozzuto. With the help of our passionate associates and LIFT's constant effort to express individual authenticity, create a culture of belonging and celebrate inclusivity, Bozzuto is proud to honor the LGBTQ+ community not only this month, but every day.
