“The Local Infrastructure Hub’s pro-bono bootcamps and training sessions opened doors to the technical guidance we needed. Bootcamp leaders provided our city staff with fact sheets and bespoke data points, connected them to subject matter experts, and coached them in one-on-one sessions that sharpened our grant applications. In no time, we had an array of resources at our fingertips.”
The result: The City of White Plains won millions of dollars in grants to plant trees, build safer streets, install energy-efficient HVAC and lighting and revitalize the downtown.
More from Mayor Thomas Roach on working with the Local Infrastructure Hub and why other municipalities should lean on the program’s supports in Governing:
Want to Make the Most of Federal Infrastructure Funding? There’s a Hub for That. Through boot camps and training sessions, a group is helping smaller cities and towns with limited resources put together competitive grant applications. More mayors should take advantage of it.

If 50% of current opioid settlement funds were spent on evidence-based interventions, we estimate that around 90,000 lives could be saved over a 10 year period.
This week, Zachary Markovits and Patrick Carter spoke at ’s Pathway to Hope Summit on how communities can use data & evidence to maximize the impact of $50 billion from opioid settlements.
The $50 billion provides hope. Hope to individuals, families and communities that have been brought to their knees because of this epidemic. This money can save thousands of lives. But it has to be spent on programs that work.
We’re honored to support community leaders as they face the opioid crisis with empathy and evidence-based solutions.
