Aunty “Casho” was my Mom’s nickname. So everyone called her “Cash.” Everyone also knew she didn’t play—period!

With a middle-school education, and the heart of a lion, my mother came to America and “made it.” Through her strength and tenacity she taught me the importance of remaining in your truth, while being a PROUD African woman. Consequently, she churned out three amazing daughters (plus one son, not pictured).

With her strength instilled in me I’ve launched this initiative, Sober & Chic to share my journey in sobriety, but to showcasing this process in a unique way; I want to show viewers that life can still be beautiful, or “chic,” even with limitations.

Thank you Aunty Cash, for your approval. Now let’s make sobriety “chic”!

I’ve always believed that God makes no mistakes. You just have to recognize the signs when they appear.

On 1/17/24, I made a decision not to fly to Chicago to help with programming, instead choosing to spend time with my sister and niece. Little did I know, it would be the last day we spent together before Riley’s sudden passing on 1/18/24.

The loss of my niece has been devastating, but it has also brought clarity and strength. Witnessing her death (yes, witnessing) has reminded me of the temporary nature of life and the importance of living in the present. Through this grief, I’ve found a new sense of purpose and resilience.

Riley’s spirit lives on in you …her hands are your hands 🙌🏾. I know that she lives on in us all, as well, as I know she had a meaningful impact during her time here.

I carry her in my work and commitment to wellness, as I continue to do what needs to be done to be the best version of myself for my family, my team, and our students.

Rest in peace, sweet angel, and thank you for helping me change my life. ❤️

Sustainable Fashion, Waste, and Black Consumerism: An Interactive Experience is a curated event that highlights the juxtaposition of environment vs. fashion, and its relationship to black consumers.

Hart Middle School students will showcase their upcycled clothing made in an enrichment program created by Red Sprinkle, which offers free programming for youth interested in the fashion and entertainment industries.

Recently, I have been contemplating the intertwined concepts of purpose and servitude, and their significance in shaping our lives. This introspection has led me to ponder the age-old question - am I truly living the life of my dreams? Without a doubt, my answer is a resounding YES.

I want to extend my gratitude to Momentum International Magazine for the enlightening interview that not only provided a platform for meaningful discussions but also allowed me to reflect on my journey as a creative entrepreneur. It was a nostalgic experience as I revisited stories from my past, present, and envisioned my future.

Every day, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that have come my way, enabling me to pursue my passions and serve my community. I firmly believe that a life without purpose is a life half-lived, and I am incredibly thankful for the chance to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Six years ago to-date, I was reviewing the final edit of my first book , and let me tell you—I cried real tears of joy. Literally. Tears.
I don’t think people understand how taxing, and arduous the overall process of completing a book is; but I had a goal. It took a year to write, illustrate, edit, publish, and send to print...but I did it. Who knew what doors would open, because I persevered?
I’m thrilled to say within the past three years, I’ve held countless workshops structured on tenets of my book, hosted courses on self-publishing, AND in 2019, my book was officially accepted in the physical/online catalog of the Library of Congress. I had NEVER been prouder.
Fast-forward to today, I’m thrilled to launch a hands-on virtual program, structured on my book, “30 Days of Style: Crafts & DIY,” —promotional material dropping shortly.

Six years ago, to date, we visited (the now defunct) in Pentagon City. The cause of celebration? We were celebrating the acquisition of a new home just a few blocks away, and knew that our mentee, Camille, would equally bask in the celebration. Of course she had to be present!
You see, most individuals view time as an omnipotent continuum; one that moves rapidly, but slowly, simultaneously. That considered, it’s hard to imagine that in 2012, Camille started as our student, and in 2018, she was in tow to celebrate a “life accomplishment”, and today, in 2024, she is and continues to be FAMILY 🖤.
It is not lost on us the enormous responsibility (and blessing) we were given by dedicating our mission to be in service of youth. We chose to do it our own way—anchored by creativity, covered by compassion, but always rooted in love (sometimes tough love 😆).
Red Sprinkle we rise to the occasion, daily. No matter the challenge, no matter the experience, no matter the ailment—we show up. When we look at this photo circa 2018, we realize when we show up…our youth are sure to follow.

Every week our Redsprinkle team goes above and beyond for our youth, so we thought it was a great to highlight the newest additions to our team: our SYIP interns!
As a partner of the School Year Internship Program, we are providing our interns with
work-readiness skills, project-based learning, life skills, leadership development training, and work opportunities. Moreover, our goal is to help prepare District youth to successfully transition from high school into postsecondary education, advanced training.
