This week, , the (National d’Études Spatiales), ’s Office for Outer Space Affairs, with the , organized the second Ocean Space Forum (OSF24) at the .

Bringing together prominent leaders from research, politics, and economics to highlight the contribution of new space technologies for the preservation of our ocean, OSF 2024 is a significant milestone on the road to the third Ocean Conference, co-hosted by the French and Costa Rican governments, to be held in Nice from June 9-14, 2025. This conference will play a crucial role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 14, which aims to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for development.

Today welcomes the Flame 🔥 for the first time since 1968!

Six Monegasques, with Grand Prix F1 champ (in pole position, of course!) will comprise the relay: he will pass the torch to (an Alpine skier and the first Monegasque woman to compete in the Winter Games), who will pass the flame to (table tennis), who in turn will handover to (bobsledding and Monaco’s flag bearer in 2018 in South Korea.)

A guard of honour comprising Monaco students will form along the road towards the Palace, and the Carabinieri Orchestra will play at the Square. The torch will then be passed to five-time Olympian (bobsledding) HSH Prince Albert (picture below with the torch in 1996). HSH Princess Charlene will receive it from Him and carry it to the Gate of Honour where members of the Organising Committee will be stationed.

We recall the many sacrifices of the heroic Allied forces and their families. We thank and salute them.

The trailblazing first official White House photographer, Yoichi ‘Oke’ Okamoto also worked early in his career as head of the pictorial division of the US Information Agency in .
