On February 5, 2024, the District Of Columbia Department of Employment Services ( ) launched a new Unemployment Insurance (UI) Benefits System. This system streamlines applying for and processing UI benefit claims to make filing more accessible and secure, to improve the processing of claims, and to ensure faster payments to claimants.
“Today marks a new era in our dedication to serving District workers,” said DOES Director Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes. “By using innovative technology, the modernization of the UI Benefits System improves the customer experience by simplifying the application process and increasing accessibility across all populations within our community, plus it adds a robust layer of security to the process to better protect our customers’ identities.”
UI benefits can be managed through a modernized, single-service portal that will allow claimants and employers to submit and request vital documents, including 1099 forms; file new claims and check the status of pending claims and appeals; communicate with DOES benefits representatives from within the application platform and access and manage claims from mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. is happy to be a partner in this transformational project in Washington, DC. Having operated the unemployment (UI), PFL and SYEP contact centers and IVR during the historic Covid-19 pandemic, it is our honor to be part of this historic modernization project.

CODICE attended Mayor Muriel Bowser's 2023 Disability Tech Summit on Saturday, October 21. CODICE had a great time meeting with various DC government agencies and vendors aiming to bridge the gap between the District's disability services community and groundbreaking technological innovations.

Codice had the pleasure of joining Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor in hosting a Back 2 School event at the Powell school this past Thursday, August 17th. The event was open to the public and offered haircuts, free school supplies, haircuts, food (including funnel cakes), and many festivities, including bounce houses, water slides, a video game truck, music, and more. Beyond sponsoring the event and arranging for backpacks and essential school supplies like notebooks and writing tools, the senior management and employees of CODICE actively participated by distributing materials throughout the Back 2 School event's duration. Witnessing the delight and enthusiasm on the faces of both parents and children was truly a remarkable experience, marking the commencement of the school year with abundant smiles!
Prior to joining Codice, Pearl has worked at American Express, IBM, and Concentrix in India as Operations Manager and most recently interned at Levi Strauss & Company, Grupo ASSA and for Airlie. She speaks five languages and has been an interpreter for the French Presidential delegation of Mr. Jacques Chirac and Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy during their visits to India.
She has a BA in French and English from Annamalai University, MA in French from the University of Delhi and a MBA from American University, Kogod School of Business. In her free time, she loves to travel, paint and cook.

On June 5th, Mayor Bowser alongside administration officials, CODICE, local business owners, and community members of Ward 7 came together to celebrate the grand opening of DC Department of General Services new headquarters at 3924 Minnesota Avenue NE. As part of a larger "Northeast Heights" community development initiative, the $52,500,000 building is set to spur economic development, especially with the Minnesota Department of Corrections joining DGS by the end of June. "On every workday, the new DGS Headquarters will bring 500 people to Ward 7 in support of their mission to build and maintain the District of Columbia" said Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent C. Gray. This is exciting news for Ward 7 and the District as a whole!
