Presenting our Variety Show: A Shakespeare’d Silver Screen! This years variety show will be a film-inspired presentation of classic monologues and scenes.

[Slide descriptions: Slide 1 is a grey slide announcing the Variety Show on October 8&9, titled A Shakespeare’d Silver Screen. Slide 2 is a grey slide with a quote from artistic director Siena Maxwell, reading “This year’s Variety Show explores the “ties” that connect modern popular film to the popular entertainment of the seminal Bard’s time. Our script, compiled of some of the most recognizable film scenes and monologues from the last 50 years, has been run through a “Shakespeare translator” to bridge the gap between the centuries. Our directors and actors will be challenged with identifying the similarities between Shakespeare’s work and the classic films’ to create a “Shakespeare’d Silver Screen. Some of the films used include: The Matrix, The Godfather, Shrek, and more!”. Slide 3 lists the needs of the show: 6 Directors, 12 performers. It also states when applications are due: director apps due Sept 6. and performance auditions due Sept 9 at midnight.]
Hello, all!
While this evening's performance of Ghosts has just begun, we wanted to post some updates about tomorrow's performance.
There are less than ten tickets remaining for individuals who come without an Eventbrite submission, which we have honored as reservations due to miscommunication surrounding our use of the platform. Please note that any tickets 'purchased' under a non-AU email were cancelled — if you still plan on attending, arrive early to sign up!
Also, please remember to bring your AUID and have your AU email on hand. Students without these items will not be permitted into the show.
We thank you for your understanding of our changing situation as we navigate COVID protocol. We are thrilled that you have supported us in our safe return to live theatre.
Hi all!
We are thrilled to welcome you back to live theatre. A few things to note for this weekend's production of Ghosts:
- Due to COVID safety protocol set forth by the school and its facilities, the performances are limited to AU community members only. This means that all audience members must belong to the AU faculty, staff, or student body. AU IDs will be checked at the door.
- The audience for Ghosts will also be rather limited in order to remain in compliance with COVID protocol. The Eventbrite is only a means by which we are able to gauge attendance and does not guarantee a ticket/place in the audience. Tickets will be handed out in person on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We can’t wait for you to join us! Please message us with any outstanding questions.
