While recently skiing at Sugarloaf Ski Area, Maine, personal items were stolen during the time period Tuesday mid afternoon March 26 through Thursday evening March 28, suspected from the main spa/health club These items consisted of 4 bracelets, 3 rings and a necklace chain with a cross and flower charm. If anyone can send any information that may lead to the recovery it will be greatly appreciated. And remember, no matter the monetary or sentimental value of an item, triple check it's security to avoid theft. With much appreciation, Donna B. NAVA Ski Club

Ever been to Telluride? Thinking of going this winter? Read a great story form one of our club members about the Amazing Hawkeye!

I had the opportunity to ski Telluride last winter and also had the pleasure of skiing with Hawkeye (Mike) Johnson.

Charismatic and loads of fun, Hawkeye (Mike) is a former CT resident and former member of NAVA. As a resident of Telluride, he is prominent as an adaptive ski instructor and philanthropic fundraiser. As an instructor of TAS (Telluride Adaptive Sports), he can often be seen on the mountain with blind skiers, amputees and individuals with Down Syndrome. It was a chilling experience to watch him during one of his lessons with a blind skier as they skied through the trees.

Hawkeye has earned the Triple Crown of long-distance thru-hiking, twice completing the Appalachian Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. Since 2007, through his foundation, GoHawkeye Foundation, Hawkeye has raised in excess of $50,000 for adaptive sports in the Telluride area. Just this past summer, his 250 mile hike raised $8300.
