Farmer Juliet from Mahara Farms in Suffield showed us how to prepare shell beans simply and deliciously! We sold out last week but she is bringing more this week. Shell beans are also know as Roman or cranberry beans. Try them!
Collards are fresh cuts!

A vibrant September 1 at DeSantis Farm.
Pickup this morning at DeSantis Farm in Watertown, one of the most hard hit during the storm August 18. Intense flooding wreaked havoc on their property and they lost everything from cucumbers and squash to pumpkins. Thankfully things are drying out and some crops survived, like these pretty candy cane snacking peppers. We also brought beautiful bell peppers of all colors back to the hub to sell at markets next week. We love sharing DeSantis's vegetables and remain hopeful more good things will be coming from their farm.
Nichole's class at Spruce Bank senior housing in Woodbury used corn and tomato at the height of season in a fresh summer salad.

What a beautiful summer salad Nichole and her students at the Waterbury Senior Center made today. Sugar Baby watermelon from Gresczyk Farms, sweet peaches from Drazen Orchards and feta from Cows Around the Corner made a delightful combo that everyone loved.
Do you know where your fruits and vegetables come from? We do, because we drive all over the place to bring our customers fresh and beautiful CT grown produce! This morning we swung by Hungry Reaper in Morris for some broccolini and bok choy. Both look incredible! It's been a pleasure doing business with Will and Jill. π₯¦π₯¬
Our truck is working a pop up in Bristol today. See you on the Green Thursday.
ConexiΓ³n -- where connections are made. At Brass City Harvest, the New Opportunities program gives seniors the opportunity to cook together under the guidance of our nutritionist Nichole. Her classes allow for socialization, nutrition education and fun!
Busy busy busy day on the Green! We had four straight hours of customers buying CT grown fruit, vegetables, eggs, and honey today. So many people are learning the value of shopping local and supporting farmers in our area. Our customer Noemi snapped up all our garlic and tons of peppers and onions for soffritto. πΆοΈπ«π§π§
We visited Oak Terrace in Naugatuck today! Our mobile market allows us to make pop up stops when our schedule allows so we had the opportunity to set up here and met some terrific people!
Nichole's students made good use of our fresh blueberries and zucchini to make muffins in class last week. Zucchini adds moisture and fiber to breads, pancakes and muffins!
Thanks to all our customers who shop with us weekly. You are supporting CT farmers when choosing to shop local. We have beautiful fruit and vegetables from hardworking farmers at all our markets and we are proud to bring it to our community!
Thanks for the support Grace House and neighbors on Abbott Terrace. It's a pleasure to bring our mobile market to you. π₯¬π«π₯¦π₯π½ππ₯π«πΆοΈπ
Our property is a true paradise for our bees, butterflies, and birds! Under the guidance of Farmer Shawn, whose passion is flowers, our crew worked to plant the seeds saved from last year so we are bursting with sunflowers of all kinds (including this unusual furry Teddy Bear variety in the last shot), zinnia, marigolds and amaranth. Across the street, Tirado Park is an established pollinator pathway. Things are taking root down here in the South End as we work to re-establish the natural habitat. π
What a day for a market! New Opportunities' wellness fair brought a ton of vendors and organizations to the Green, and the music and enthusiasm really made things lively and energetic -- for the entire four hours we were selling. We even got to do the Hustle.
Special guests today included Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas who was educating people about early voting, our customer Deon who puts his watermelon order in during February, Daisy giving out empanadas and a color coordinated purple pepper eat. Good times!

National Farmers Market Week is underway! We hope youβll join us in showing support for our local farmers and the hard work they do to keep their communities fed by choosing to shop for CT Grown products at a farmers market!

Breaking News! Sugar Babies are in the house. Fresh from Gresczyk Farms, we are hauling them to market today at the Waterbury Senior Center 10-12:30. We'll leave some behind for shoppers at 359 Mill Street today. It's been a long summer but these sweeties are worth the wait. .grown
