NEIFB is pleased to announce that Abby Turpin has joined its executive leadership team as Director of Marketing and Communications.

“Abby has been a supporter of our mission for years, and her proactive engagement in our community has always impressed me,” said Barbara Prather, Executive Director of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. “Through her work as a consultant with NEIFB this past year, we’ve already seen the impact of her strategic vision on our marketing, communications, and media initiatives. Abby’s ability to connect with people and craft resonant messaging will help us build on this progress and reach even more individuals facing food insecurity. I’m thrilled to welcome her to our team in this capacity.”

This Sunday, November 3, join us for the 10th Annual Cedar Valley International Food Tasting Event. This is a great opportunity to sample different foods from around the world while supporting our BackPack program!

Join LifeServe Blood Center and the UNI Panther Pantry in a blood drive TOMORROW, October 31. For every unit collected, LifeServe Blood Center will donate a food item to the Panther Pantry to help UNI students. Join this collaboration in Mauker Union Ballroom A from 9:00AM-2:00PM.

What a fun event benefiting the Northeast Iowa Food Bank! In total, Rector Llamas 5th Annual Llamaween Open Farm raised over 2,472 meals for NEIFB. You are amazing!

A HUGE thank you goes out to the Lynch Family Foundation for donating over 1,800 pounds of ham to help families enjoy a warm holiday meal! We are so grateful for their support throughout the years!

On September 16th, to celebrate Hunger Action Month, the Alliant Energy Foundation raised $520,000 in their 18th Drive Out Hunger Golf Tournament held in Wisconsin. The money raised was split up between seven local food banks fighting food insecurity in Iowa and Wisconsin. In their 18 years of doing this, 2024 was the most successful Drive Out Hunger event!

Last week, the Alliant Energy Foundation presented us a very generous check from the event to help us continue fighting food insecurity in northeast Iowa. We cannot thank Alliant Energy enough for their continuous support of our mission. 🧡

Introducing your 2024 NEIFB Staff Chili Cook-off winners! Mallaki finished in third place with a smokey and spicy chili, Chris finished second with a last minute comeback, while Nick, in true Kitchen Supervisor fashion, finished in first place!

This afternoon, Hydrite employees stopped by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank with a very generous donation and stayed to volunteer! With 17 people, they packed 1,008 bags to support our BackPack Program. Thank you Hydrite for your continuous support!

On October 17th, Veridian Credit Union celebrated International Credit Union Day and their 90th anniversary by giving back to 90 organizations. A HUGE thank you goes out to the Chancellor Dr location in Cedar Falls and Ansborough Ave location in Waterloo for selecting us to be the recipient! We appreciate you!
