Clay Guy Ry

I fell in love with clay in 2003, my freshman year of high school. Ever since then, we have spent as I am a small batch potter, primarily self taught.

I create most of my work on the potters wheel. I specialize in alternative firing techniques such as raku and aluminum foil saggar. My newest body of work is cone 5 stoneware. Although I love art for the sake of art, this new venture into the functional realm has brought forth some great ideas.

Last week, I decided to move forward from my job as a Project Manager. After 12 months of growth, perseverance, and an abundance of unnecessary stress, I found myself wondering what I was truly pursuing. At the end of the day, it was a paycheck, which has never fulfilled me like contributing to the happiness and well-being of those around me. Being creative and having the ability to be face to face with customers is where my passion lays. With that being said; I have 3 major projects of my own I will be pursuing this year. I will release details as things are set in stone.

The 1st big announcement!
Clay Guy Ry will be back to making pottery on a part-time basis. I will finally be getting the studio/gallery space together (Only 1 year behind schedule). I will begin making fresh work ASAP, but only after finishing up some works in progress from the past few years.
I will have limited gallery hours throughout the year, BUT I will have several studio sales, and will be available by appointment, for your convenience.
A Grand Opening is planned for, Saturday May 18th during the Waterloo Business Association 2024 Wine Walk. Mark your calendars and come experience some small-town charm!
If the weather permits, I will have the raku kiln firing out front, with some seriously HOT Deals!

STAY TUNED FOR THE ADDITIONAL PROJECTS IN THE WORKS!

Glazing and blazing the next couple days, while we are near 40 degrees here in Wisconsin! Many of these pieces will be on display in Stoughton, WI. I'm excited to find a beautiful gallery in the Madison area to showcase my work. I will also been stocking my Etsy shop in the next few weeks 🀘🏻

Some little bud vases taped, and ready to be glazed. Just waiting on some decent weather to get out and raku!

Below the mezzanine will be the pottery studio, along with a gallery space of finished work.
The open area in the foreground will be for the kiln/glaze area (on the left), storing our '91 Chevy Cubevan (which I am converting into a camper), and some will be used for general storage. The mezzanine will be our Zen space, which will be perfect for yoga, naps, and the occasional gathering of friends.

It was only a matter of time! I recently found a great deal on a 1800 Sq ft space. Now its time to get back to producing some pots outside of my full time gig. Stay tuned as I build this space out over the next few weeks 🀘🏻
