Clean up for a local customer!

This customer (local amateur radio operator) came to us today with an ICOM ID-5100 radio installed in his brand new Honda CRV. The customer was not pleased with this install done by a car dealership.

The radio was a remote head model, which is specifically designed to save space while the brain unit is mounted elsewhere, usually out of sight.

The customer told us that he had bought the car from a dealership and had them install the radio system for him. As you can see, the "install" is extremely impractical and not clean or professional in appearance. The radio brain was mounted alongside the passenger side of the console and the radio display was mounted inside of one of the only two cupholders up front.

The customer requested the brain unit for the radio be moved to the rear cargo area of his vehicle as well as some other mounting option for his remote display.

We utilized a standard swivel ball mount on the passenger side of his console, and completed the rewiring and relocation of the brain unit and established a practical, user friendly, and professional appearance.

Knocked out a quick install this evening. This unit belongs to the Police Chief of the Village of Dixie Inn, LA. He brought this unit to me with a damaged push bumper lightbar (Whelen Dominator D4) due to an encounter with a deer. The new lightbar is a Feniex Fusion-S 400, which was furnished by the Police Chief. He also requested that I install a refurbished Decatur Genesis2 Radar unit, which also turned out well. The final request was to wire in his pre-installed dual electronic gun lock into his CenCom Gold Controller. CrittComm Services LLC is always happy to help our small local agencies with their needs!
