JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Neighbors Of Watertown, Inc. (NOWI) provides a variety of quality affordable housing opportunities to the residents of the City of Watertown and Jefferson County. These opportunities include over 500 residential rental units as well as approximately 30 commercial rental spaces that are maintained by the company. Most units are located in the city of Watertown and the remaining units are in the Philadelphia area.

Evening Security personnel help ensure the safety of our rental buildings and/or buildings owned by the company throughout the City of Watertown. Shift days will be flexible and based on availability of security personnel.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Driving by and/or walking through rental buildings/property owned. At each site staff will:

-Observe front and back of buildings
-Note gatherings and disturbances
-Look for and report illegal activity, especially drugs
-Observe and report unauthorized residents and vehicles
-Observe and note reckless behavior
-Investigate disturbances
-Respond to lock outs by readmitting tenants to apartments
-Note unauthorized or unescorted guests
-Review security films if necessary
-Complete daily written reports of any occurrences noted during shift
-Meet weekly with designated NOWI staff to be advised of current tenants and any outstanding issues they need to be aware of
-Adheres to the set work schedule and all other company policies.

Hours usually begin at 4:30 pm and end at 1:30 am on weekdays or 3:00 am on Friday and Saturday but are subject to change if needed.

The Neighors of Watertown office will be closed Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day.

It is with great sadness that we report that, Neighbors of Watertown’s longest serving board member, Harold B. Johnson II, passed away on Monday. Harold joined the Neighbors of Watertown board in 1988 and has been an integral part in helping the organization become what it is today. He was a great man who dedicated much of his time to our organization as well as a long list of others. His impact in this community is immense.

The Neighbors of Watertown office will be closed Friday July 19th, for the annual company picnic!

Summer hours for our office start today, 7/1 and run through 8/31. This means we will be closing at 4:30 now!

Our office will be closed on Wednesday June 19th in observation of Juneteenth.

Next Monday April 8th, 2024, residents and visitors of Watertown, NY will see the solar eclipse in its totality for the first time since January 24, 1925. The partial eclipse will begin at 2:10pm, with the totality beginning at 3:22pm and lasting for approximately 3 minutes and 39 seconds. Don’t forget your ISO-approved protective eyewear!
