KEITH GILES - With great sadness the Douglas TEAM members lost a great friend and coworker. Keith was very thorough and accurate in completing his assignments. He was quiet and yet he would share very compelling and interesting stories about his past especially his time in the US Navy and the challenges of getting a ship to be deployed. Keith will be missed by all of us.

VETERANS RENDERING THE HAND SALUTE IN CIVILIAN CLOTHES:
An Amendment in the Defense Authorization Act of 2009 clarifies that veterans not in uniform are authorized to render a hand salute when the flag is raised, lowered, or passing, and during the national anthem and pledge of allegiance.

The new authorization is voluntary, and gives veterans the choice whether to honor the flag with the military hand salute or to honor her by standing at attention with their hands over their hearts, as non-veteran citizens do.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE 2024 - Watervliet
The Douglas Industrial TEAM showed up for the annual Memorial Day Parade to give support to the families of our fallen heroes and to remember all of those who sacrificed for our Freedom and Liberty!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! 70 GRAND YEARS! GUS'S HOT DOGS! A pride of Watervliet!

Gus in 1954 and later his wife, Ranay, joined him in 1958, followed by Steve Haita, at the age of 6. For the past 70 years Gus's has been a family tradition. The 70th anniversary marks a special occasion for hot dog lovers. Prices have been rolled back to a small thin dime each at the 212 25th Street location. (7 Hot Dogs Max.)

April 8th - The FAMOUS Day of the Eclipse. It has been almost 100 Years since New York has been able to have a total eclipse.
Of course a cloud barrier ruined the grand event for many Upstate New Yorkers. At Douglas Industrial the employees and customers were able to enjoy a cloud laden 96% Eclipse.

Watervliet Citywide Christmas Parade 2023 -

DOUGLAS INDUSTRIAL ONCE AGAIN HAS A WONDERFUL EVENING! It was great seeing all of the great families, neighbors and Santa Loving Children line up in front of their homes and apartments to watch the Parade wind throughout the city. An absolutely grand tradition. Thank You! Mr. Mayor, for inviting us each year to be part of such a great city event.

Christmas at Douglas Industrial Company - Sadness is in the air with the passing of our friend and coworker however there are signs of Christmas all around. The Brookview Bolt folks as well as the office and sales team were seen decorating and preparing for the Watervliet Christmas Parade. A rainbow was seen watching over our building on Monday the 18th. Even our resident Cat - Ms. Lucy - was enjoying her stocking! Lastly our famous guess the number of "NUTS in the JAR" Contest is taking place. The "Counter Sales Staff" have said the guesses for this years list of prizes have been very close!!!

William Murray -

Douglas Industrial lost a great friend and coworker last night. Bill has worked for years heading up our Packaging Department. Everyone remembers Bill as the quiet guy with a great smile. If you wanted to hear a great hunting story Bill was the "go to" guy. Bill was an expert when it came to knowing what was going on in the hunting world.
Bill will especially be missed by the MANY students that worked with him through the years from the North Colonie School District Special Education program.

Steve Priess our VP and General Manager said that "Bill was a conscientious hard worker." "He was appreciated by the whole staff."

Bill will be missed.

Douglas Sales and Promotions Corporation held our 5th Annual Halloween Costume Contest. Judging gets more difficult each year.
We had some great costumes competing for one of the four "gift cards".

A skeleton "walked away" with the First Place position. "Chuckie" took second place and "Fred and Wilma" tied for third place.
